if the motor is making a loud noise then its a sure bet it's got a problem , first thing id do would be to give it a good cleaning out with oven cleaner (do this outdoors if possible) , then I go into a more finer method of cleaning the fan shaft (scrape) this will get the baked on things off of it , if this fails to make it smoother then id replace it , Cuisinart's are easy to get parts for note: any surface that contacts food that may have got oven cleaner on , neutralize it with white vinegar scrub before reuse with any food and allways !!! wear eye protection when using oven cleaner !!

In my opinion, the best waffle irons are the vintage ones made here in the USA. They are more durable and more reliable than anything made in China today. Look up the older Sunbeam, Toastmaster, Kenmore and G.E. models and you can usually find either round, square or rectangular versions, as well as models with and without non-stick coatings. The years from late 50's to the late 70's are best.
