Altec Lansing ACS 295 Computer Speakers Questions & Answers
Hi, well if you have NO Green LED then this means that you do not have power coming into the unit. You need to check, your power lead, if it is all OK, there is power at the socket, then unfortunately, the Power Supply has "Blown". It will need to be repaired, any repair like this usually is fairly simple. however as with any repair, if you get it attended to by a professional (recommended) always ask for a 'Quote" before allowing any repair work to commence.I see similar things in my shop frequently, a repair such as this if straight forwards should cost under $55.00 + parts for repair.

Have you tried another set of speakers in your system? even a pair of headphones (directly connected to your soundcard, not the headphone port you can have on your speaker control)? If you get good sound through headphones/other speakers- it's likely a fuse in the subwoofer or the speaker set itself has gone bad. Usually the subwoofer has the power unit for the speaker set- check and see if the fuse has blown. If so, you can get a replacement either from a place like Home Depot, Radioshack, your local hardware store, even Autozone or Advanced Auto (even Wal-Mart usually has a few fuses). Check the documentation for your speakers to make certain you get the correct amperage fuse- too low, it will blow the fuse again; too high: it blows the speakers. ever computer speaker has a cord for connecting it to the pc. in most cases just a single cord does the trick (you do not need the out 2 lead to use it) unless it is a sophisticated speaker such as one for studios.
good luck
