ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard - Page 4 Questions & Answers
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
Try resetting the CMOS, to get the procedures on how it's done on your PC's motherboard, please refer to the image below.
Please reply if this has helped you. Thanks.
Hi. When I turn on the computer I get no beeps
Best way to pinpoint the problem is through elimination.
First of all, if you have a spare power supply hanging around, swap it in to make sure there's no problem with that unit.
Next, disconnect all unessential components (Hard drive, cd drive, all extra RAM (leave in one module), watercooling etc)
Try booting up, if you get the same negative result, try swapping the single RAM module with the extra ones. Still nothing? Then you have a serious problem with your motherboard and/or cpu and you should consider upgrading.
However, if you get it to POST, then you can start re-connecting all the other components one at a time until you can identify which one is the bad part.
-Good luck, hope this helps
A8N SLI Deluxe Sound device/driver not working.
Have you tried using microsoft system restore to roll back your computer to when your friend did the dirty deed? To use it, go to start> all programs> accessories> system tools> system restore. If it hasn't been too long since you got it back, you might be able to recover your system very easily using system restore, but do it right now, because the longer you wait, the more likely it is that the repair record has disappeared.
A8N-SLI Deluxe asus motherboard wont boot
first you want to make sure
the power supply works, they can stay on for a week then die, then work again , then die
then disconnect the cd rom, and see if it still has the same problem,
next could be the processor , this would be the cheapest part next in line,
processors get warm when they work
if not , you would replace that before motherboard
you can also disconnect the hard drive a while
to make sure there are no config errors
No PS/2 keyboard response on boot.
Try a different keyboard and then try a different mouse. Try unhooking the hard drive and see if it goes past the logo, if it still doesn't then go ahead and disonnect the keyboard and mouse and see if it goes past the logo screen. If it doens't go past the logo then take the memory and cpu out and blow so air onto it to make sure specs of dirt or dust are no affectng it.
you can also try different memory as well to see if it stops locking up. Otherwise if you go thru these steps and you still have the lockups, its not going to be the keyboard are mouse causing the problems, its the motheboard.
You can try a usb keyboard and it might work but that would mean you have a bad ps2 port on the motherboard and as long as that doesn't bother you then the computet will be fine.

Problem loading win XP-SP2
Don;t know if this is the cause of u're errors, but it might be do to the motherboard chipset drivers (the lack of them in u're windows version). If so, u have to make a copy of u're windows cd with all u're motherboard drivers included, and try to install with that cd. The same problem appears to all new laptops that do not offer XP support and only Vista support . In order to do the new XP cd, u\ll need a little program that u'l find on internet..... (for example: n-lite)
Cpu chip fan
This sounds as if the motherboard arrived with some form of issue. It has been happening quite frequently with ASUS boards recently. The retention bracket which connects the heatsink/fan to the CPU? If so, yes, it should be connected to ensure the processor remains cool. You are correct, you will need a DVI-HDMI cable. Not to worry, though. They have become quite popular recently.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Still the same problem will not boot
high im josh in cebu phils. the computer will not boot only power A lot of things could be causing this ,try process of elimination, open case ,remove all addin cards except video ,diss connect cd drives and floppy ,unplug mouse and keyboard and boot computer keep adding things back in.one by one put the hardware back in.be sure you conected properl the hardisk. or if still go to bios setup menu then choose boot settings.select hard drive to boot first then save the changes then reboot your pc. good luck
I replaced the heatsink fan it booted up like
Well, first you should check wether the fan actually starts when you turn on the pc. If it doesnt your cpu will be overheated in no-time, causing the pc to reboot. That fan then probably has the wrong voltage, or requires to much power, which your power supply may not be able to provide.
If it works, you should try to find out how powerful this fan is, meaning how much air it moves per minute. If this fan is less powerful than the previous one, your cpu will be overheated.
If neither of these solutions apply, I guess you should contact your vendor and request replacement. It may be just the fan that's broken.
Sli problems
Get drivers from nvidia.com; If that doesn't work reinstall windows and do the same.
Boot up
Hi there.
Try clearing the cmos
<<<<<
you will see in the picture a plastic jumper (in this case coloured
green), move it to the other position and hit the on/off button, then
put it back in its original position and power up the machine again.
Hopefully the issue will have been sorted. If there is no jumper remove the battery for an hour and make sure the power cord is removed from the back before you clear the cmos
Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!
Asus a8n sli premium
From the Asus support site.
If you installed total 4GB memory, the system will detect less than 4GB of total memory because of address space allocation for other critical functions, such as:
- System BIOS (including motherboard, add-on cards, etc..)
- Motherboards resources
- Memory mapped I/O
- configuration for AGP/PCI-Ex/PCI
- Other memory allocations for PCI devices
Different onboard devices and different add-on cards (devices) will result of different total memory size.
e.g. more PCI cards installed will require more memory resources, resulting of less memory free for other uses.
On a SLI system, since PCI-Ex graphic cards will occupy around 256MB, another 256MB will be occupied after you install a 2nd PCI-Ex graphic card. Hence, 2.75GB memory left only if two SLI cards installed on A8N-SLI Premium while 3.0GB memory left with one graphic card without other add-on devices.
This limitation applies to most chipsets & Microsoft Windows 32-bit version operating systems.
If you install Windows 32-bit version operating system, we recommend that you install less than 3GB of total memory. If more than 3GB memory is required for your system, then below two conditions must be met:
1. The memory controller which supports memory swap functionality is used. Chipsets later than Intel 975X, 955X, Nvidia NF4 SLI Intel Edition, Nvidia NF4 SLI X16, and AMD K8 CPU architecture support memory swap function.
2. Windows 64-bit OS which can address more than 4GB memory.
