I had the exact same problem and after messing around with it for about half an hour I realized that the cord was the problem, I was kind of moving it around while plugged in and if I hold the end of the cord in a certain direction it works like it should. If the results are the same for you, I suggest either getting a replacement cord or just do the not so reliable option and tape the cord into place.

It is a wired system (outside unit to the indoor phone) and only available in South Africa. This seems to be the distributor and there is no manual online. Try removing all batteries, then reinstalling in the outdoor unit and waiting for it to start sending data before reinstalling batteries in the indoor unit. If you don't see data displayed on the indoor unit, the outdoor unit may have failed.

Take it apart and get some isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip. check for corrosion around the terminals. If there is none, look for loose connections. If there is something loose, check if a bit of the board is loose. If a bit of the board is stuck to the terminals, give up on batteries.

I do not believe that you can buy these separately. They are factory programmed and paired together.
