I had the same problem when I upgraded to Windows 7. The printer is still fully functional & it does everything I need it to do, so there is no point replacing it at this time. I eventually gave up on the 64 bit version of Windows 7 & installed the 32-bit version.

I would recommend the following:-Remove the cartridge from the printer-Turn the printer off-Wait 60 seconds-Turn the printer back on-Firmly re-install the cartridgeIf the error message remains, there is likely to be a problem with the cartridge. In this case please contact your retailer.

your paper feeding sensior may not working or the print media you select is not matched .

Try putting some paper shredding lubricant on it. You can find it at any nearby office supply stores, sold under various brand names.

check paper from tray are properly placed and adjusted the format displayed on the display (the printer menu) as the computer and printer may be set to the same format

Yes, that happens. Not all printers will work with the newer OS. Go to Canon.com and see if they have updated drivers for your unit, if not, it is replacement time, Consider a network capable printer, they all users can use the printer as if they hosted it...
