Scanner Problem
Difficult to be certain with the information given; but, it may be that you have updated your operating system to a point where the original scanner software is no longer the correct version for your operating system. If you have not already done so, try downloading the latest driver and software from the canon website and install that.

I keep getting a "wrong
Clean the print head/cartridge with Isopropol Alcohol (rubbing alcohol)and Q-Tips, The nozzles, the contacts and all the excess ink that had acummulated around the nozzles. The error message should clear.Run through all the maintenance checks and alignments. If this does not fix it, the print head needs to be replaced about $45-$60 from Canon.

You may not see a paper jam.
This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you.
Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.
And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Black prints out with lines
Have you tried cleaning the gold contacts with a pink pencil eraser?
Also forgive me for asking this, but roughly speaking about 80 to 95% of problems involving ink or toner are resolved by the following:
Are you using a factory new ink cartridge supplied by the manufacturer of the printer?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
