There is a mains power lead needed for this model of printer.
I don't have the same model printer here with me, but as far as I know from this range, you will need a standard *figure-8* lead, available from most shops around. Many £1 shops have them too.

How to clean print head

Print heads can be cleaned by using the commercially available print head cleaners or you can use warm-hot water. Gently clean the print heads with soft, lint-free cloth as the heads are very fragile and may get damaged. Dipping the printheads in hot water would dissolve dried-up in stuck in the heads.

Good Luck!
Hope this helps!

Hi Marie As this printer is now getting on a bit it could be that the print head is worn out. I had to replace mine a year or so back and now it prints as it didwhen new.
Print heads are not exactly cheap, but they're a cheaper than a new A3 printer.

My Canon i6500 can not print in black? Is there is

Hi There

Summary

Usage of compatible ink and leave the printer idle too long may cause printhead clogging
What should you do if you get this problem. Relax; you may recover the printhead by unclogging it. Follow these steps to unclog the printhead

1. Right click in the printer driver name
2. Select Properties menu
3. Click Maintenance tab
4. Click on cleaning sign for regular cleaning. Perform this up to 3 times.
5. If this does not work, perform Deep Cleaning

And if that not work

Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this,
But after you done this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work.

Ok.

There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.

Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Go to "start menu", then "settings", then "Printers and faxes". Open Printers and faxes. Right click on your printer. You will see a menu. Find "properties". A menu will open (usually, the first thing you see is "General"). On the bottom, you will see "printing preferences". Click on that. A window will open. It has two tabs: one is "layout", the other is "paper/quality". Look at the layout menu, you will see on the bottom a button named "advanced". Click on it. Find "document options". Click on the + next to it. On the bottom, you should see "printer features" and underneath it "print quality". Try changing the print quality to "high quality". That should improve the quality of your pictures.

We have just changed the black printer cartridge

Ok are you sure that you have it set to Black & White, or Greyscale? Also ensure that you do a head clean, too. Give the cartridge a good shake up to mix up the ink. If it is purple, make sure that, that isn't the color of the "Font" that is printing... unlikely but just a thought.

My canon i6500 is missing line and washed out when printing.

This sounds like you are using either refilled cartridges or after market cartridges and the ink is clogging the print nozzle. To clear the problem you need to insert an OEM cartridge, run the deep nozzle cleaning utiliity at least twice, alignment utility. This should clear up the problem with the spotty and washed out printout.
Let me know if this solves your problem otherwise we can explore other solutiions.
