check on the panel of the printer if the selected paper tray is the lower tray or the upper tray put paper on both tray mark the paper so you can see which tray is being feed,
I have a Laser Class
Someone has probably sent you a fax on 8 1/2 x 14 inch (legal size) paper. Pull down the manual hand feed tray which is located above the regular paper cassettes and place some legal size paper in it. Hopefully the fax will be outputted and the message will go away. Good luck.
Paper jam is still reading
Open every compartment, especially behind the printer. Im sure youll find some pieces of paper stuck somewhere.

Error E-246 is related to counter memory.
First thing to do is take off the back cover and look at the main pcb's. Please remember to power down and remove power supply from machine first.
Any pcb that can be removed and re seated should be checked. check all conections to main boards and replace the covers. Power up and see if it all comes back on.
If the error persists, you will have to take ypur device to the canon service center.

This is a hardware issue and the
printer/fax will need service, Not all users can perform said service if you gave me a zip code I could look up some service providers in your area.

Generally, when you have a ghosting problem, the issue is with the fusing unit. If you have a new fusing unit (or if you can get one) install the new unit and the problem should go away.
If you don't have access to a new fuser, you can try replacing the drum/imaging unit. Sometimes a ghosting problem can be caused by a bad cleaning unit (inside the imaging unit), but usually it's the fuser causing the problem.
