try running your maintenance program.
go to your printer settings
right click on canon i850
left click on properties
run cleaning or deep cleaning,
then print head alignment and/or nozzle check

Check your default paper size on both the document program you are using and the printer. You could have it set for 5X7 and that's what it will figure for, even with 8 1/2X11 paper.

try cleaning the nossle of the cartridge , if that too doesnt work try cleaning the contacts of the cartridge holder, if that too doesnt work then take the printer to service center

You might need to clean the heads.

To do that, (assuming you are using Windows)

load a sheet of A4 paper, open the Printer properties dialog box, click on the Maintenance tab and then click on the cleaning icon.

After that you shoul select the nozzle check. and see if the lines come all right.

Resetting the Printer

1. Turn the printer off.
2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer.
3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes.
4. Plug it back in.
5. Reconnect the data cable.
6. Turn the printer back on.

it means your wast pad is full and needs to be reset i will have a look for you to find how to reset it

OK this is the tricky part. You will have to take your printhead out of the machine (the peice of plastic the cartridges sit in). It just has a single arm holding it in and nothing else. There a few things you can try I will list them in order of safest to least safe.

1. Leave the cartridges in the head (even if you have to hold them in with your hand) and use a thin head on a decent vacuum cleaner (preferably one that can handle wet and dry so you don't get ink everywhere) on the bottom of the head where the ink comes out. You may be able to suck the ink through effectively removing any blockages.

2. You can leave it to soak in Isopropyl alcohol or windex or really hot water (not boiling) and it may remove any blockages. You must make sure that it is completely dry before reinstalling it though or you will wreck the head.

3. Using a jeweller's ring cleaner sit your printhead in an inch of water and activate it for 60 seconds (This can also damage your printhead).

You can get an idea how successful you have been each time by dabbing the bottom (where the ink comes out) onto paper towel or a tissue. You should see 4 lines, black, cyan (blue), magenta (red) and yellow.

If all of this fails you may need a new printhead which is dearer then a new machine.

Right, This fault is due to the waste ink pads being full, The machine will stop working until the machine has been servcied and cleared. Normally it is the end of life once the ink pads are full. By time you get a engineer out with new pads and for him to fit them it would cost more then a new machine, so i would buy a new machine with a one year canon warrenty , be so much eaiser and cheaper

by blue you mean cyan cart. It could be down to the print head bein glogged up, i would do some deep cleans and make sure the machine is purging ok, If not change print head, If not it could be logic board but i have never had it with the cyan colour only megenta and black.

So printhead so clear your fault

This could be down to None canon carts clogging the head up or clogging the purge unit up, If they are all canon carts it could still be down to the print head, if not it could be down to the Logic Board. At the worse case it could be down to both printhead and Logic Board
