It's not good news, the inks have a chemical in them to help them dry quickly so your ink doesn't smear when your prints come out, once it dries like that you can only replace the printhead. QY6-0055-000, around $85.00
Won't print
All the canon inks clean with just water, you need a new printhead.
Color printout has shaded lines
It sounds like your blue ink may be running out.
If ink is full then try to remove an ink cartridge and putting it back, then run through the steps of printing the test page. It may be just that the pages are printing unaligned.
Will not print and keep getting paper thickness error
Did you try moving the paper thickness lever (blue lever on top of the print cartridge holder)? It should be all the way to the left when you start--if it needs to be adjusted the printer message will let you know.
Printer is printing stripes instead of a solid
Try going to your Control Panel, choose Printers, choose Canon Inkjet and then choose Properties. Then choose Maintenance and then either Nozzle Check or Printhead Alignment. One of these might solve your problem.
Canon i850 printing but pages are blank
I had the same problem after changing the black ink cartridge. I went to Control Panel of my computer, chose Printers, then Canon Inkjet. Chose Properties, then Maintenance, the Deep Cleaning. NOW my printer is working!!
My Canon i850 flashes in a continuous cycle of one
try the following
1. Start with printer OFF
2. Hold down RESUME and then press and hold down POWER Button.
3. Release the RESUME but continue to hold down the power button
4. Press the RESUME twice, then release POWER button.
Now you have put the printer in Service Mode so it will accept Service commands. Here is the list of Service commands;
A. Press the Resume button once = Print Service test print
B. Press the Resume button twice = Print EEprom data sheet
C. Press the Resume button Three = Initialize the EEprom
D. Press the Resume button Four = Clean Waste INk Counter
E. Press the Resume button Five = Change Destination settings
F. Press the Resume button Six = Head Refreshing (Cleaning)
G. Press the Resume buttom Seven, Eight, Nine, = Not used
H. Press the Resume button Ten = Return to selection Menu
My printer flashes orange and green and will not print
Count the number of flashes, then go to Canon support
here and search "flashing lights" and you'll see the error codes for your condition. Choose the appropriate error and you'll get the solution instructions.
You might try resetting it by unplugging the power and data cables, wait 10 minutes, then reconnect.

Can I print off line ?
If you meant that you wanted to print from your PC or laptop directly to your printer even if you are not on the internet, then yes, you can if you have the proper drivers to your printer and have the USB cable connected to both PR and printer.
I keep getting a sequence of orange and green
in the side where you load the paper you can locate a lever that is lifted when you place the paper. just try to get hold of it. move it in either directions and then restart your printer without paper.
and once again with paper. everything will be fine

Inkjet printheads are electrical devices and subject to failure. The error report may be indicating the failure of one or more of the delicate resistive elements in the head.
Unfortunately, the electrical drivers failing would probably give the same indication.
BTW, alcohol isn't the best choice for cleaning clogged printheads; window cleaner dissolves ink much better.
