WE HAVE A SCAN CANON

It sounds like the drivers were installed, but none of the application software was installed. Along with the drivers you should have received another disc with software on it. This software would be used to import scanned images and edit them, save them, or email them. If you have that disc then go ahead and install the software. If you don't have the disc you can go to the Canon website with this link and download it:

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_lide_30#DriversAndSoftware

All you have to do is choose the operating system version you are using, and a list will come up with the software that you can download.

Thank you for the opportunity to assist you in resolving your issue. Should you need further information or assistance please do not hesitate to let us know.

In most scanners, there is a lock (usually on the bottom side) to protect the internal parts while transport.
Detach the USB and power, turn the scanner upside down and unlock the button.
Attach the cables and retry.

Best of luck!

I HAVE CANON LIDE 30

The driver is trying to open your chosen 'image edit' (application) software (MS Paint, PhotoShop, Panintshop Pro or whatever), BUT you have uninstalled it, moved it or not chosen one ....

Go into the Control Panel, Scanners & Cameras, choose the LIDE scan driver right click for 'properties', Events tab, Select an Event pull down = 'scan start button' (or whatever) and select (browse to) your image edit package ..

I cannot find a driver

I have many years of repairing Canon scanners and here is my suggestion to you.

I would google Canon CanoScan Lide 30 drivers just as I have written it to you. A page will come up select the one that takes you to Canon's official web site. Before you install the drivers disconnect the cable that goes from the scanner to the computer then install the drivers. Once the drivers are installed power on your scanner and then reconnect the cable to your computer from the scanner. A window will pop up saying a new device or new drivers are being installed. Once this completes I would reboot (restart) your computer and you should be able to scan now.

A side note if there are no current drivers available for your scanner I would then send a email requesting drivers from Canon or beta drivers if they have them. Drivers are free from Canon so it wouldn't hurt to ask for them.

I hope this helps you out.

Cant load upgrade for Windows

I have many years experience repairing Canon scanners so here is my suggestion for you.

When was the last time you went to Canon's official website? Just google Canon CanoScan Lide 30 drivers when the page pops up go to Canons official site Im sure since Windows 7 has been out for a while now they should have a driver available. If not my next suggestion is to contact them directly via email and ask for the latest driver or even a beta driver if they are still working on getting a driver out for your scanner.

I hope this helps you out.

I have just upgraded to

I have repaired Canon scanners for many years so here is my suggestion for you.

Canon like all vendors was not ready for Windows 7. I would google Canon CanoScan LIDE 30 drivers. Im sure there up to speed by now and probably have new drivers avalible for your scanner. Make sure you download the drivers from Canon's official website. Once the new drivers are downloaded disconnect your scanner cable from your computer. Now install the new drivers you just downloaded. Once the new drivers are installed, with your scanner powered on reconnect the cable that comes from the scanner to your computer. A pop up window should come up saying new drivers are being installed. Once that process completes I would suggest you reboot your computer and you now should be ready to scan.

I hope this helps you out.

There is no Windows 7

Visit http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0000466.asp to download the Windows Vista drivers for the Canon CanoScan LiDE 30.You can try installing these using compatibility mode by right clicking on the downloaded files, and selecting 'troubleshoot compatibility' - select the option for 'worked in a previous version of windows' and then select vista

If this does not work, you should extract all of the downloaded files, press start, right click on 'my computer' select 'properties' and then click device manager. Right click on your unknown device and click 'update driver software' and then choose your extracted files to scan for the driver
