Hello & Welcome to FixYa
Dishwasher not filling problem is caused by clogged inlet valve, first try to clean the inlet valve and the water line coming to the inlet valve. If the issue returns replacing the water inlet valve is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

sounds like your machine is not taking in any water at all, which is the first thing the dishwasher wants to do on all programme settings. The constant whirring noise you refer to will be the water valve trying to take water into your machine. As yours isn't filling in the first place the programme cannot progress without water and it will just sit there whirring.Anyway, to resolve this matter I would check the fill hose which goes from the back of machine to your cold water pipe in your kitchen/utility, in case somebody has turned off supply.where the flexi hose meets the copper supply pipe there should be a thumbturn shut/open valve, turn this 90 degrees or a quarter turn and if you here a rush of water for a split second then you have fixed it.At this point try setting away a programme to see if water is going into dishwasher. If not have a bucket ready and unscrew the flexi hose altogether to make sure water is travelling past shut/open valve. If not you need a new shut/open valve. If water is able to pass this valve reconnect to dishwasher turn shut/open valve a quarter turn to open flow of water again, test machine on any programme again ,if it fills then your sorted, if not it must be your dishwashers internal water valve that will need replacing. Not a major job (located behind fill hose) but make sure electric and water supplies are off first before dabbling and write down your machines make and model number before shopping for part. GOOD LUCK.
