Compaq A1500 all-in-one/message:clear system err then press clear
1. Lift the control panel by grabbing the panel along
the top edge.
2. Pull the control panel forward.
3. Lift the ink cartridge access door. For better
access, stow the document input tray away. The
cartridge carriage will move to the center.
4. Remove the new ink cartridge from its
packaging. Hold the ink cartridge by the black
areas or colored top only.
5. Remove the tape covering the print head by
carefully pulling on the yellow tab. Be sure to
remove all of the tape.

I am trying to find ink cartridges for my compaq u600.
Lexmark made that printer for Compaq. The numbers on the cartridges are a Lexmark number, if you go to a store that sells ink cartridges for Lexmark, ask for a number 50 or 60. Or go to google and search for Compaq A1500 ink and you will get lots of choices to buy from, usually with Lexmark model numbers.

Message about software not in effect
First - did you have the printer turned on before installing the software? Printer MUST be ON!
Second - did you install the software before plugging in the usb cable? Printer must be on when cable is plugged in, and should not be plugged in until installation software says to plug it in.
Third - you must completely uninstall any previous printer installations you've done for that printer before attempting another installation. If the printer doesn't work after an install, you must delete the printer under "Printers" in the control panel, and check to see if you need to uninstall the software through the Add/Remove programs portion of the Control Panel. If you do a new install over a bad install, the printer still will NOT work. You must meet ALL these conditions to make the printer work.
Last, but not least, download the printer software from the manufacturer and not from a third part vendor, and make sure you select the correct operating system when you select the software to download.

Compaq a1500 printing probs
ok you might have tried printing a doc/app out earlier and it might have failed so while you trying to print out this present app/doc the printer still might be focused on that failed or it might be confused. Now to stop this follow these instructions. Go to the start bar click control panel. Then once that window pops up ( control panel ) click printers and other hardware. Then once that window pops up ( printers and other hardware ). Click Printers and faxes and that page will have all the printers and faxes ever installed to your computer. Now click on the printer thats yours and then a smaller wider window will appear you will that window will have all the doc/app you have ever tried printing out. the status bar will show what is going on with each doc/app. Now you should first stop all the doc/apps and refresh. To do this you should highlight all the doc/app and then go into the document tab ( there are several tabs in this window such as document , printer, view and help) then click cancel and cancel all the doc/apps. last step is to go into the view tab and click refresh and it should work :-). If not contact your printer manufactor.

Won't print

Compaq a1500 printer and window vista
The first one try to change the install-directory ( don't install in PROGRAM FILES ) simply make one folder and install it there.
The second one
DOWNLOAD those driver.You can make accaunt for free to download those driver!

Printer wont print anything
Did you mean just the cord was repaired or did you get a new pc??? Many times, once a computer is unhooked and transported to be repaired, sensitive settings and drivers can be upset by the move. Sounds bizarre but i know it happens because it even happens to me. The other thing is did anything get done to the internals of your pc, or the software changed. This is really important too. ie, did the repairer have to change any settings in the pc, in windows or any where. Please post exact changes if any. If no settings were touched and it was just the cord, i suggest completely uninstalling the printer from the pc. If you do not know how to do this, post back. Once all traces are removed, reinstall it. Make sure printer is completely uninstalled and new installation is smoothe and no hiccups. Now connect back up correctly and turn on. Your pc should recognise new hardware and configure it for you and away you go.

Check cartridges error mgs.
The only thing you can do here is by a second set of cartridges and swap them back and forth when they run out. Somehow the printer recognizes that the same cartridge was re-installed. But as I said if you have a second set than you can re-fill the second set and they will work. Then when that runs out refill the first set and install those. Go back and forth between the two sets and you will be fine

You may have the printer settings set to pause accidentally or set to work offline. Go to printer icon, right click and scroll down to check all your settings, if any of above apply, untick them. Try again. The error message is telling you it cannot communicate with the pc. Have you updated anything on your pc, sometimes new systems settings, particulary windows updates and service packs can cause drivers to become incompatable. If all else fails, you could try getting updated drivers from the Compaq website.

Then I would try to reinstall my new printer.
