Compaq Inkjet Ij300 Printer - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Printer will not stop printing
I had the same problem on my laserjet 1100. When I went in to delete document via control panel the document did not show up. However I had an old printer still registered on my computer and the document was listed under that printer. Cancelling it solved the problem. I have now deleted that old printer so the problem should not recur. Hope this helps.
Will not stop printing
As above my printer will not stop printing. As long as it as paper it continues to run paper though.
Compaq
Something similar happened to me with a Lexmark P122 which uses the same cartridge. I believe Lexmark also makes your printer. Did you check the simple stuff first? Shut down your PC and printer, unplug your printer cable, check to be sure it's clean and in good shape on both ends. You can used canned air to blow out the connections. Remove the cartridge, don't touch the copper part with your hands but you can use a lint free cloth with isopropyl alcohol and lightly wipe clean all the copper contacts. Reinstall the cartridge and cable, start your PC and let it boot normally, then start your printer. If you have the same problem, it's probably the printer cartridge itself. On my P122, it turned out to be the printer cartridge. Probably some shorted lands. And that in turned caused my printer to fail permanently. Is there a light flashing on your printer in a short/long type of sequence? If you don't mind, can you check the power adapter (the black box connected to the electrical outlet and supplies power to your printer) and tell me what it says following the word OUTPUT?
Printing Problems
My compaq ij300 was doing the same thing. I removed the cartridge, took a kleenex and wiped the back of the cartridge until it was completely dry and shiny looking...until no more ink would come off on the kleenex. Replaced the cartridge and aligned it using the printing software. I didn't use the test page, just typed a one-line document and hit Print. That took care of the problem.
Printer prints each line 3 times
There are a number of possible reasons for the problem you are experiencing:
1. The printer head might need alignment - use the printer?s software to align the heads
2. Does the problem occur with different cartridges? Try with an old cartridge before opening a new one.
3. If the ink is smeared you might want to clean the printer - make sure no hair or dust balls inside.
Help iam so comp stupid!!!
You mean it prints 2 copies?
Open control panel, then printers. Right-click your installed, default printer and select properties. Under the General Tab select printing preferences. Then select the advanced tab. There should be a setting in there called copy count, make sure it's set as '1'.
Printing
Sadly, Compaq printers (rebranded low-end Lexmarks, the X11 in your case) were not robust at all. Since they were originally created to be a free pack-in for new home PC's, they were not really meant to be used for more than a year or so.
It sounds like there is some build up around the jet area, this build up will smudge around when printing. You can try to clean it out with a few cotton swabs although if you aren't careful, some cotton fibers might join in the mess.
Another trick I have done in the past is run a piece of cardstock through the printer a few times. Sometimes the extra thick paper will help scrape off excess inks.
Printer
Go to Control Panel look and see what printer or printers are connected to your PC.
Then I would try to reinstall my new printer.
