2005 chevy silverado code reads random mutiple misfire
Multiple misfire problems can be cause by several issues. Other than checking if the spark plugs are good, you need to inspect the cables for the cylinders for bad wiring that needs to be replaced. Other cause if bad ignition modules or bad coils and another is a bad module. If you are to plan on DIY the repairs, swapping the parts (module, coils) to test if they should work on yours is the cheapest way to diagnose the issue.
The tool stopped turning...motor turns
usually there is a coupling to connect the 2 parts I would think that it has cracked. If you have the brand and model number get back to me and I will try and find the part number for you or you can go to their website and look it up.
