Make sure the choke is coming off. Check the compression.Many times the head gasket may leak when the engine heats up. Also check for spark sometimes the magneto can heat up and quit after running a while. See if it will run if you prime with a little fuel, if so ,some of the Kohler engines this size have a fuel pump that could be failing. Check for vapor lock. It takes air and fuel properly mixed, spark and compression any of these missing the engine dies.

run it with the gas cap loose the vent might be plugged then check the pump

You need to repair your locked rotor then it will work

not car moved yah lost the users manual??? in it is the schematic, and on said schematic is what kills spark dead. 1: oil switch bad. 2:kill switch bad. 3: wires too those cut or shorted. it's all there to read, ask maker for the lost manual

Don't think you can check the avr it's self (capacitors you can) there are continuity tests you can do to the windings of the generator to determine a fault with that if that all checks out ok the avr is at fault

Fault code is displayed if the engine starting battery voltage rises above 16 VDC for a 12 VDC system or above 30 VDC for a 24 VDC system for more than 2 seconds when the engine is not running. This fault condition does not inhibit engine starting. The fault condition clears when the battery voltage returns to a voltage within the limits for more than 2 seconds Check the battery rating and condition.

Kohler 5e Marine or mobile/Generator?????? working on this lacking a meter and manual. ? working blind I call it. not good that ever. call for help: it has 2 coils, 2 sparkplugs 2 HV wires to fail, (1 of them) and 2coil igniter we use and ohmeter to the bad coil. primary is of coil (ignitor end) is about 5 to 12ohms. (infinity bad) secondary coil is high ohms 1000 to 10000, par, infinty bad. the HV lead is used to measure secondary to coil core metal the HV lead can fail too. making coil useless. and last a bad ignitor , the 2 coils are same P/N so can be swapped and if failure move to other plug, bingo for bad plug , otherwise bad ingnitor box.

That is an engine running issue, not a battery issue. :>D The first thing to check would be fuel supply. Can you start up manually and keep it running. If you can, it is the contactor that senses your loss of mains power and switches the generator on. It is not maintaining the connection, or is is misdiagnosing the power from the generator as power from the mains.
