Some keys on my fujitsu lifebook stopped working so temporarily solved problem by plugging in a desktop keyboard to the usb port.

that laptop was one of the worse ones they built. the ram was bad, the hard drives go and the keybord does not last long. even the batery seems to go bad quick. then the worse part was it was all because of windows VISA. if you do go back to xp and then laod everything and the keyboard still give you problems you might wnat to replace it.

Does it only do it when you are on line? If so it could be that your browser is low on resources due to pop ups, ads, etc. Google ad block for your specific browser to block out the garbage and free up your browser. Does wonders.

Its not worth getting the replacement feet, you can purchase a new keyboard from cyberguys.com

Push the shift key down until it beeps and it should unlock the keyboard and allow you to type normally.

First, try to connect an external USB keyboard & see if it will work fine.
If the external USB keyboard works fine, then you will need to replace your laptop's keyboard, as there is almost nothing that can be done to fix a defective laptop keyboard.

I get the same thing, until I press the shift key, then it comes back.... for a while. Very odd. So-far only witnessed this under Linux Mint and Ubuntu, just resetting the laptop back to Windows to see if that helps...

On the Dell 0Y3740 for the Dell Inspiron 500M or Latitude D800, the Num Lock (Lock replaced by a symbol) key is on the top row of keys. It's a short row and the Num Lock is the third key from the left (or the fifth key from the right). In blue, the key has Scroll and the lock symbol. On a slightly different model, the key may be in a different spot. However, it will probably have a similar placement near the Print Screen and Pause/Break keys. (Usually these keys will be near the function keys or just above them for a keyboard without a separate 10-key area.) I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Are you wanting to clean it? You can use a butter knife or a flat screw driver .to gently pry the keys off. Doe this while pc is off.. Take the knife and place it between the keys and gently lever down at and angle. The key will be a little resistant but will pop off. Sometimes a keyboard has a few keys such as the space bar the are held with little metal bar which can be annoying when placing the keys back in. When placing them back in you will hear a little snap. This just means it is in. No worries.

Hold the shift key and press the - key

This works for most keyboards: Take something sturdy and hard but not sharp, such as a butter knife. Insert it under the front of the key just a little way, don't force it. Pull upwards gently. The key should pop off. You can clean them with gentle dish soap and wait until they completely dry, then put them back on. If the key is still sticky, take it off again and use a cotton swap dipped in alcohol (not dripping--rub against the inside of the bottle so it's just moist) and gently swab the area underneath the key. I have cleaned numerous keyboards because I have kids who share my desk tops and kids are frequently sticky. :)

with num lock on using the right keypad only type alt + 176 I leave a notepad of characters that i can copy and paste from to be faster. To do any alt code google alt codes

I had the same issue with my HP Pavilion dv6-3122 laptop. I tried every possible key stoke(alt, shift, fn f11) with no luck. Ended up buying a new laptop keyboard on Ebay for $13. Took about an hour to remove the old keyboard and install the new one. Hardest part was getting ribbon plugged into socket on motherboard.

Check the Regional Options of your pc, under the input tab

While on the log on screen, in the lower left corner, there should be a blue square with a circle in it. Click that and enable the "Type without the keyboard" an on screen keyboard will appear, and click the letters on that for your password
