Where do you place batteries

I have seen a couple of ways to get at the batteries on a wireless mouse. One is to look at the bottom to find a standard battery cover complete with a little finger slot that allows the plate to be lifted off from the bottom surface of the mouse.

The other is a sliding latch at the back of the bottom surface of the mouse body that releases the battery flap which then lifts upward. The flap is the backside skin of the top of the mouse.

Dell mouse not responding; diagnostics

Hello,
There is a very good chance it's one of two problems. First, while theoretically you can connect tons of USB products, sometimes USB ports can be kind of hinky... Try unplugging something else USB based and plugging in the mouse or try several different ports. Also be sure it's not plugged into a USB hub and is going directly into your computer. If this works play with the arrangement of your USB devices until you find a configuration that works, maybe you'll have to switch out a printer or external drive while using your USB mouse...
If this doesn't provide a solution the next thing to do is to uninstall the pointer device driver in device manager and allow it to re-install.
If you don't have an alternate mouse to complete the task, here is the keyboard shortcuts for Windows although depending on your version of Windows it may be slightly different.
-First hold the windows key and hit the r key (win+r)
this will bring up the run menu
-Next type mmc this will bring up a management console
-Next press the ALT key and hit the down arrow key
(this should drop down the file menu, if it doesn't please try ALT+F)
-Use the arrow key to scroll down to Add/Remove snap in and hit enter.
-Use the arrow key to scroll down to Device Manager and hit ALT+A to add the device manager to the console. Hit enter.
-Make sure local computer is selected if this menu comes up and hit enter.
-Hit enter one more time bringing you back to the console with the device manager added.
-Hit tab to get to the center console and scroll down to mouse.
(If tab isn't doing anything please hit the ALT key once.)
-Hit enter to open the tree if it isn't already
-Scroll down to mice and other pointing devices (or something along these lines) and hit the right arrow key to expand the tree again.
-Select the USB mouse with arrow keys
-Hit the alt key again then the down arrow (not together) and then the right arrow key until you get to the action menu and use the arrow key to go down to uninstall and hit enter.
-Wait a moment and then go back to the action menu (you may have to hit tab just keep trying tab and the down key (not together) until a menu opens. Go over to the action menu again and choose scan for hardware changes. The computer should recognize the mouse and now work.
I hope this helps you. Thank you.

If the keyboard works - you can still operate the computer. The tab key will allow you to access the various windows on the desk top. The Windows Start key will allow you to open programs. The Alt key along with a letter combination will allow you to manipulate files....and so on. You don't really need a mouse to operate a computer.

The arrow on the mouse kepts junping around ?

You are probably using a laptop with a touchpad. What is happening is that your thumbs are touching the touch-pad as you type and the cursor is jumping around. Solution: disable your touch pad. You can go to Start > Control Panel > Mouse > Touch Pad > Disable

Another solution is to go to the Dell website > Support and Drivers > download and install the Synaptics Pointing Device driver and disable your touch pad using the options in this new driver.

MY MOUSE LOSES CONNECTION EVERY FEW SECONDS THEN

sounds more like your computer pausing the mouse while it is processing, then when its done the current task the mouse returns. Use Cntrl+Alt+Del to view tasks (task manager) when this is occurring. you can sort by CPU on the "tasks" tab to see what is using up all the resources at that time. I would think its likely malware / spyware advertising softwares. google the highest offending program after you identify it. Good Programs for this include, Spybot and Adaware SE both avail on the web for no charge. Please add more details, if this doesn't answer your question.
