Optiplex 280 ran noisely, I cleaned the computer

Bummer, but what you describe is ususally some cable dislodged. Remove and reaseat everything and try again. Remove and reseat the ram, leave the processor alone.

Why is it that cpu fan speed up in optiplex gx

Bad capacitors could cause this. It's a common failure with the optiplex line.

I need to enable AHCI

Hi Jordan,
You should be able to access your BIOS setting when you first turn on the pc. The first screen you see will tell you (briefly) to push either the Esc button, or F8, F12 to access the BIOS setup. Once your in the BIOS you may have to hunt down the control your looking for but the options are not that many and you should be able find it within a few minutes. Word of warning, by changing settings in the BIOS, you can cause your pc to act much differently or not even boot up correctly. So if you enable the Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) and it does not act like you want it to, you can always change it back.
Hope this helps

Dvd -cd rom dell optiplex

Hi,
If the cd rom drive is not recoganized in the windows , it could be because of windows error or due to the drive that might have gone bad. To eliminate that its a windows error . Trying the following Fix from Dell and microsoft. Make sure there is no disk in the drive when you run the patch. If the same fails you would have to replace the optical drive.

What is the best way

The most popular way to transfer files is to burn them to a cd. For this you would need a cd burner and a couple of blank cds. Not only are you moving the files but by burning them to a cd, you are also archiving them. You'll be thankful that you did when something goes wrong with your computer. If you have a cd burner that is compatible with cd-rw media, then you would be able to just use one cd to transfer. A cd-rw disk offers the option to erase the cd and then rewrite something else to it. Depending on the speed of your cd burner, this could be a quick or a timely process. It may be very repetitive if you have a lot of data to transfer An excellent way to transfer a couple of files from computer to computer is to transfer with a thumb drive. A thumb drive is a small hard drive that can hold anywhere between 16mb to 1 full gig. It is normally a plug and play device that you would plug into a USB port. It would show up as a removable drive in My Computer on Windows or if you a Mac user, it would show up on your desktop. If you have an older computer, you may have to install drivers for your USB ports or software for the device to be recognized. Please check your thumb drive manual for more information on the setup for different systems. If you're not afraid to open the computer up, you could just take your old hard drive and hook it up as a secondary or slave drive. This would allow you to transfer the files from hard drive to hard drive, within your computer. Before doing anything to your computer, please consult your computer manual
or an experienced computer professional . Never open your computer up while it is still plugged in.

I can't get pass system set up it says that I

you have hard disk failure. if its a SATA HDD there's a possibility that the data cable is the problem. change it & try. while you are at it remove the power cable & replace that too. however best would be if you could remove the HDD & check whether it works on any other computer. that way you can be sure what the problem is. if it reads on another PC then its either the above cables or your SMPS

Why computer will not reboot?

Try clearing the Bios (CMOS) and see if the hard drive is detected in the bios. If it is, and you still get this boot failure. Your hard drive is probably bad.
