Dell (E210882 Motherboard). No video display when power. Fans running, HDD spinning.

An steady or Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

Flashing green light on the circuit board. No power at all

I suggest it is the mother board or the power supply. Go to the Dell website on a friend's PC and download PDF manuals pertaining to your model. The battery may have enough power to light an LED.

Monitor

the original working frequency for that monitor is either to high or too low for the grapchics card inside your computer! Try the monitor on other computer and try to reduce or increase the working frequency! Or maybe is just you need a driver for that monitor to work on your pc!

Green light flashing on circuit board

Is there any problem with it?? I think you may be referring to the LAN adapter's blinking green light, if if is blinking while the computer is on and an ethernet cable is plugged in it is perfectly normal... otherwise please elaborate on the problem.

My Dell XPS won't turn on

First thing to check is your power supply. Bring it to a computer shop and ask them to test your PSU. It should be free to test or very inexpensive.

Won't turn on

Power supply testers are a handy tool for owners of computers as well as having your computer hooked up to a back up power supply to insure you are not subjected to a brown-out, a loss of line voltage, which wreaks havoc on electrical components. If your power cable is good and properly connected and there are no lights on the unit or no beeps or sounds when pressing power button good chance power supply is bad. But if you have never opened up that computer and it is more than a year old, then there could be a fair amount of dust inside and the power bridge on the motherboard could have blown out, if you know what capacitors are there are 5-10 of them towards backside of CPU on motherboard, the tops should be flat and not leaking chemicals out, if they are you need a motherboard, I have not had one come back to life with new capacitors yet, tried 2 so far...

W32/blaster worm, how to unlock frozen screen

repeatedly press f8 after youve pushed the power button. this will start your pc in safe mode. click the start menu and in the run box type ( msconfig ) only using the letters m,s,c,o,n,f,i,g. then select the startup tab located at the top center of the popup screen. you will then see a list of items with a check mark located next to each of them or just some of them. unchech each one and then hit apply. you will then be prompted to restart your system. let it startup normally. you will get a prompt telling you your system has been changed to a selective startup. just check the box and choose it not to prompt you again. this should allow you to boot up and use your anti virus program to remove the virus threat.

you will no longer see some of the icons in the lower right hand corner of your screen as a result of unchecking those items, but they will still function properly without any issues.

below , i have included a link that will provide you with a w32/blaster worm removal tool. download the program to your desktopp the doublle click the icon to run the tool. this wiull be extremely helpfull if your AV software is out of date or already corrupted by the worm itself. a blaster worm has the potential to completely disable your current AV program, so id for sure try it first as a definate removal result.

if you need any further assistance in helping you with this , please feel free to contact me via [email protected]

I'm the owner of a Dell Dimension XPS B866 desktop

Your windows 2000 pro is not supported by Microsoft anymore and your XP has to be Service Pack Three to be valid. The issue sounds like a driver issue. This is because the desktop prints in colour and the laptop does not. For the laptop to print correctly you have to have all the latest updates installed first. Please
1. turn on your printer first
2. then turn on laptop
3. make sure yu are cobnnected to the internet
4. go start>control panel>automatic updates> make sure they are turned on
5. go here http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5
and do as it asks.
6. when updates are all installed turn off and turn on laptop (reboot)
7. repeat 5. until there are no more upates offered to download
8. go start>control panel>add and remove programs and uninstall anything to do with Officejet. Do not unistall all to do with HP, as you may have other HP hardware, just officejet.
9. download and install ccleaner (Google it) and its free.
10. run the registry clean part of ccleaner (left column, second icon down). Save the backup it offers.
11. reboot
12. go here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=mp-49137-1 and install the cleanup tool. Run it and it may clean out any sediment in the registry.
13. Reboot
14. After level 4 action, reinstall the whole CD that came with the printer but make sure the CD you use says that the software is for use with windows XP. Take your time and let this process run its full course without interference even if it looks like it has stopped or frozen.

Let me know what happens.

I need to find a replacement motherboard for a

This is an era 1997 system and really is an antique. If you are trying to save it to get your info off a disk drive, just install the disk on a new system.

If you are restoring old computers for a hobby, then try to buy a M233S from Craigslist or ebay. although I had no luck there. Dell has used an ATX-style motherboard, so the processor and its huge heatsink are right next to the cooling fan and not near the path of the expansion slots.

I assume you have seen this info:

How to take the cpu out of a dell desktop

To remove the CPU from a Dell desktop, you first need to unplug the power cable, and then hold down the power button for five seconds to drain any residual power from the computer. Make sure you are wearing an anti static wrist band, or at least touch something metal to discharge any static on your fingers. Next, remove one side of the case. One side is intended to be removed, and is held in place either by two screws on the back or by a latch that is pulled on the top of the case (unless it is a clamshell tower that opens in half). Once open, you should see a cooling fan and a heatsink (metal radiator) near the center of the motherboard. In most cases, the cooling fan and heatsink can be removed as one unit by unscrewing four screws near the base of this assembly. There may also be a plastic shroud around the fan that directs air out that will need to be removed first. Once the heatsink is removed, you can see the processor chip, or CPU. To extract it from the motherboard, you will need to flip a small, thin metal switch beside it that holds the chip securely in the socket it sits in. Once you flip this switch, you can carefully lift the cpu from the socket. If you are replacing the CPU, you can reverse these instructions, but you may need to apply some thermal compound to the cpu to help with the conduction and dissipation of heat.
