Dvi plug won't transmit sound to TV

DELL 8400 MAKES A LOUD FAN NOISE AND WONT BOOT
There are 2 basic fans in Dell tower one for the power supply and the other for the Processor. If your computer is not booting then the Processor fan is most likely to be the culprit. What could be happening is that the Processor fan is no longer turning fast enough to cool the processor, so normal the processor when it over heats there is either protection to switch off the computer automatically or the computer won't boot. The best thing is to change the fan and make sure it is working properly but checking on the cables that they won't entangle on top of the fan to impede it's movement. You can easily damage your processor if the fan is not working properly.
My dimension 8400 freezes. It won't load
Welcome to Fixya! What you need to do and I am sure you have done so already is leave it to load. Give it time as it may be having difficulty processing the operating system. It is possible that the Microsoft Widows Installation has become currupted, it will therefore need to be repaired with the aid of the Microsoft Windows installation CD.Contact a computer technician to repair the installation if need be, a repair would simply correct any errors detected by the application therefore keeping your data safe. Run an anto-virus scan to be sure that there are no viruses running.Take care!damnor01

The most common problems are scratches or lines around the drum. These lines will transfer to the image. If the complaint is a solid or partial line on the image, inspect the drum for a matching set of lines. Replace the toner cartridge if the drum appears damaged or if you suspect the drum to be the cause of the image problem. If you replace the toner cartridge and the lines remain, then there's a good chance that the problem is with the drum. The other part of the image subsystem which could cause this is the fuser. Scratches or damaged areas of the fuser can result in missing or smudged areas on the printout. Remove the fuser, and examine it closely for damage or deterioration. You can contact your printer manufacturer for a replacement fuser if necessary.I hope this helps and thanks for using Fixya!

Hi,
The audio driver might have been corrupted. You just need to download the appropriate audio driver for your motherboard. Go to the Device Manager and install all missing drivers for "Unknown Devices". Either connect to the internet or use the driver disc which came with your motherboard.
For those who doesn't know how to access Device Manager, please follow the steps below.
For Windows XP:
Start -> Run -> Type devmgmt.msc (in the box) -> Right click Unknown device -> Properties -> Driver tab -> Update driver
For Windows Vista and Windows 7
Start -> Type devmgmt.msc (in the start search box) -> Right click Unknown device -> Properties -> Driver tab -> Update driver
Hope this helps.
It will not boot in safe mode. It will not boot to
This error refers to an inaccessable boot device. I typically will fix this error by booting the PC from another form of boot media (Example: Linux Ubuntu) to access the files. But to make it simple for any user, you will want to buy a replacement hard drive, that your system can support.
Cut power to the PC. Physically remove the damaged drive. Install the new replacement drive, and install your recovery CD to this drive. Once the system is back online from Recovery, you can re-connect the damaged drive, as a slave, to retrieve the data.
Most new systems will allow both drive to detect in the system if you set the jumper on the end to Cable Select (CS). If you have SATA drives, Master/Slave doesn't apply.
Beyond this point, if the drive will not allow access to the files, you will have to follow the same method, but try installing some free File Recovery Tools to scan the damaged drive with, like PCI File Recovery.
Contact me if you would like more detailed instructions sent to your email. You will have to send me a make and model of the PC though.
