Make sure that the rear jumper on the hard drive is set to Master

Go into the bios by hitting F2 (On most systems , look out for the F? key when the machine first boots up )and set the first drive to be the CD/DVD drive, save

Put the operating system disk into the tray and close the tray up power the unit down and then put it back on again.

If your OS disk is a full bootable version it will spin up and ask you if it should format the hard drive say yes and then follow the instructions

I would recommend you buy a USB speaker system. This way you dont have to physically take the server down in order to achieve your goal.

Is there a RAID card Eg PERC installed? If so, did you use the hardware raid setup? Also, Why do you want to put Windows 7 on a Server? Have you thought about Windows Server 2003 or 2008?

Open her up and check all the connections and also the BIOS settings. Does the DVD drive appear in the BIOS detection screen? I would suggest tackling the DVD issue first! Maybe that you need to change the order that it boots so that the DVD drive is first.

Assuming you have checked in setup that the PS2 is turned on the other option is to re-flash the bios .
At some time someone switched the mouse and keyboard and started up the computer this can cause you to need to re-flash the bios most likely the keyboard chip needs to be replaced sorry to bring bad news .
Dell seems to have this problem yet the USB works is good where most modern keyboards and mouse are USB.
Purple is Keyboard if not color coded the closest to the outer side of case is the keyboard.

PS. You may try setting the jumper pins to default the main board back to factory defaults then remove the jumper pin and leave off for first boot .When doing this be aware not to have the power cables connected to the server remove all power cords and the monitor . Prior to doing the first power up plug in the PS2 keyboard only then the monitor. Cross you fingers If you lucky your PS2 port’s will be working again if so shut down re install the jumper pin install the PS2 mouse.

I think you want to change the server operating system to windows XP or Vista. Is that it? If so yes you can. But there are things you need to do before proceeding. Here they are:
  1. Back up your data
  2. Make sure that you have the drivers of your third party device drivers (i.e. NIC, VGA, Sound Card etc...). check if your drivers are compatible with your new operating system selection. Otherwise download them from the manufacturer's site.
  3. Prepare a bootable installation cd of the Operating System (OS) of your choice. make sure you have the serial numbers ready as well.
when done doing this follow these steps
  1. Boot your PC. At the manufacturers logo page press F12 (commonly it is F12 but some computer models use F11, check it out on the logo page) to select the boot device.
  2. Insert the OS installation cd/ dvd into your drive.
  3. Select the CD/ DVD drive to boot from
  4. if you are installing a Windows OS, when the "Press any key..." message is displayed just press a key on your keyboard.

When you inter the bios open the memory in the bios be sure to save on exit hope this helps

There are a huge range of motherboards to choose from.
The mounting holes on the motherboard will match the desktop mounting plate, these are standard configurations.
Stick with the well known brands and with the functions that suit your requirements.
My choice of brands are Gigabyte, Intel, MSI. Most of the late model motherboards have SATA disk controllers.
If you are into gaming and video editing etc. go for a motherboard without a built-in graphics card and purchase a separate high end graphics card.

Not all hardware supports bass and treble enhancement in ther Std Windows sound controls. unless it worked before I would imagine it isnt supported.
You should be able to enhance it in Media Player using the Graphic Equaliser as this is software based.

Windows xp will usually only see 3.5 gbs of ram even in your motherboard can support more. WIndowns vista does recognize more RAM or i also believe windows xp 64bit recognizes more ram. Nothing wrong with ram or your computer its just your operating system.

Write down the Express Service Code and Service Tag number that is on your server chassis and call Dell.

Are you sure the new motherboard was of the same revision as the old one? Dell shipped 400FSB boards during the beginning of the 1600SC line and shipped 533Mhz boards during the end of the run. I would check the revision level of the motherboard to make sure it is compatible. If it's the same revision, I would start small and connect just one CPU and put the system at 512mb ram and see if that works. If this works, you can begin to add additional components as needed.

try repeatadely pressing delete on startup with the monitor cable attached to your onboard graphics socket but keep the new graphics card in. then you should go into the bios. change the graphics setting to your graphics car and then save and reboot. it should now work from your new graphics card

Check the PowerEdge Raid Controller for parity problems. Sounds like the status on the physical volumes participating in a RAID array has been degraded.

Loud beeping from a drive is usually an indication that an invalid drive array member has resulted in a degraded logical volume.

If you were counting correctly, you had at least three drives - most likely participating in a RAID-5 setup. The array might have been rebuilt with one bad drive. But it sounds like you've got two corrupt physical volumes in the array. And that's not good.

Just go into the bios and insert the correct parameters. you shut it off before it could save the settings. Or hit fi on boot and it should take you into the bios and you cand sort it out in there. If you want an easy way, just do a system restore. Start,Programs, accesorys, system tools, system restore, just go back a day or two before you had that issue, and you should be good to go, good luck
