Is this a new laptop? If so make sure that the AC power source is plugged into the wall, this is a common issue with new and old Dells, the connection from the labtop gets loose and needs to be pressed. However when the power is low in the battery it will act like this. Make sure the battery is fully charged and the laptop is plugged into a power outlet from the wall.

Sounds like you have the familiar "power adapter" failure. I assume the system is out of warrantee.
You can either try replacing the power jack on the motherboard or take it into a local laptop repair shop.

Sounds like it is a bad battery - do you know if it was working before you purchased it? Could the pins between the battery and laptop be misaligned? I had this once and i had to get a new system board.

It is a problem with your computers battery connector. If your computer is under warranty you should send it in, if not you will want to look into replacing the receptical.

It may be the inverter whick is a small board located at the bottom of the LCD panel and plugs into the backlight. Usually you can get them off of eBay for less than $20

If the drive is showing an error (or is missing) in device manager, do the following:

Start Registry Editor (Start, Run and type in regedit then click O.K)
Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for the sound card of Dells website.

Hi you can try this:

From Start, go into Control Panel, then select Sounds, Speech & Audio devices, then Sounds and Audio Devices again.

On Volume tab, click on Advanced. Now choose Laptop stereo speakers. This may sort out the problem. Try the other options if they still don't work.

Something , some software or virus,which is also software, is still trying to run. I woudl try running system restore then an antivirus.

It is an error code. Dell support can tell you what the exact code means but usually it is a graphics card, power supply, RAM, or motherboard issue. Hope this helps.

You can reseat the video cable to the video card, and see if that makes any difference.

Also, Connect an external monitor, then press FN+F8 and see if the issue appears on an external screen, If not, then replace the LCD

If running Windoze OS, then try plugging in the firewire cable after you are fully booted and see if it picks it up as new hardware found. That may get it configured for you.

Try to do this, when you see the dell logo, keep on tapping f12 then choose cd rom or dvd rom device, then keep on tapping enter until you will be able to see the setup page of the program/os that you are installing.

Dell is offering to replace the LCD on the Inspiron 9200 within 3 yrs of purchase under recall for free. You must talk to a supervisor because most of the "others" have no clue. Hope this helps. I replace mine, my wifes and my sisters under this program.

I think I would contact Dell's customer service before buying and changing any parts. I have been told Dells online live tech service is very helpfull.

Start by checking the power supply with an ohm meter for the correct output, however, this is generally a problem with the battery or a memory chip. Start by removing the battery and starting up on the power supply only. Dell batteries are notorious for causing a no start. Then try removing the memory and try one chip at a time in both slots. If none of these work, then I'm afraid you have a failed system board component, and you will probably want to take it in for a professional diagnostics.
