Dell Inspiron 8500 Notebook - Page 3 Questions & Answers
My Inspiron 8500 wont load completly it turns on
It sounds like overheating. I would check the fans in the back to see if they are packed with lint. You will need new thermal paste, then take the keyboard bezel off then remove the screws that hold down the keyboard. Remove the four screws over the heatsink and then remove the fan. Blow these out, make sure there is nothing in the vents or heatsink. Use a credit card to scrape off old thermal paste on the processor, and the heatsink and put a small amount on the processor and put it back together.
My laptop won't boot up
Hi,
You will definitely need a windows boot disc. What operating system are you running? With a boot disc you can enter setup usually by hitting f2, then you select to boot to the cd-rom first. Now I wouldn't recommend performing this unless your comfortable doing so. Most likely the windows installation needs to be repaired or reinstalled.
Thank you,

Need to find 24co2 chip \r\ password locked
This is a security-measure, to prevent a thief from using your laptop after it has been stolen.
Find your original sales-receipt, and telephone Dell,
and prove to them that you are the original owner,
and they will assist you in "unlocking" the BIOS-password.
Will not receive a charge
Hi,
Look at the bottom of your laptop on the Dell sticker and look for a rating like this 19.5 volts @ 4.62 amps if your power brick is the PA10 heavy duty one.
The smaller power brick PA12 is only rated at 19.5 volts dc @ 3.34 amps and you would not believe how many Dells were shipped with the smaller power supply and the laptop needs the one rated for 4.62 amps. I have found this on many laptops I have serviced for folks who just have the wrong power brick for their laptops. This is a common cause of the battery never reaching a full charge or just not charging at all. Also, could be a bad motherboard too! Check out the ratings on your laptop sitcker and then look on the charge for the rating there too. They must match!!!
