Once WIN XP starts installing, follow directions. On each restart after that, DO NOT press the key to boot from CD. WIN XP setup will handle everything until the reinstall is complete. After you are done, you may choose to go back to setup and change the boot order back, but it is not really necessary. The only time you will get the "press and key to boot from CD" message is when there is a bootable CD/DVD installed in the drive. Otherwise, it overlooks it and goes to the next boot device (HDD).

If you are not able to use the integrated keyboard, you can try an external USB keyboard. If it doesnot work, then you can try to use the onscreen keyboard. To use the onscreen keyboard, go to start > programs>accessories>accessibility> on-screen keyboard . Open a notepad and then try to type using the onscreen keyboard. If it works, then you need to replace the keyboard.
