I'm answering you from my laptop, that has exactly the same problem. I
just keep trying until it powered up. IMPORTANT: DO NOT TOUCH THE KEY

control panel/hardware and notice that it is missing, also check device
manage and will not appear either. What I did and solve my problem was a
system restore to a previous date before the problem appear. go to
accessories/system tools/ system restore. thats worked for me

First problem. My computer won't
Hi,
Try this: take the battery out, disconnect the power supply, press the power button and let sit for a minute. Then connect just the power supply (not battery) and try to power up. If it works, shut down then power up with just the battery, then reconnect the power supply. This will be work.
Good luck!

I turned my lapton on and it will not boot up.
If you have to ask "how", then it's time to take it to a qualified technician, for professional trouble-shooting.
It could be a dead battery, or a dead AC adapter, or a dead motherboard, or a dead 'C:' drive.
I believe my latitude D510 has a faulty female
This can be repaired or replaced but is not a simple operation. The jack is soldered to the system board so it must be removed, the repair completed and then reinstalled back into the laptop. Unless you are very much inclined, it is a repair best left to a shop.

My Dell Latitude 510 fan will not stop making
Sounds like something has got into the fan housing. The best way of fixing this is to disassemble the laptop to remove and clean the fan.
If you are not happy doing that (its a bit fiddly if you have not done it before) you could try cleaning the fan housing using a vacuum cleaner nozzle placed at the fan oulet.
Computer will not turn on
You need to charge a battery at least overnight 8 hours for a real flat battery. During this time it must NOT be used at all. When you get it that flat, it will take some time to "Come Back" from flat. I suspect you just need to be more patient and leave on charger, when using it for at least a couple of days while working on it. After the 8 hour initial charge.
I have vertical coloured lines on screen, these
There is a thin ribbon cable that runs from the motherboard to the screen, it is this that has worn.
If you can imagine every time the laptop is opened and closed it bends the ribbon cable back and forth and eventually get fatigues giving the lines on the screen where it is wearing away the connection.
They can be replaced but require quite a lot of work to replace as you have to strip down the screen and base unit to get to both ends.
Search for Dell D510 Display cable and you should find what I am talking about. A second one appears to be about £10 - £15.
