only two possibilities, first is the rocker springs at each end or the bar are causingit to not make contact. or the bubble switches under the keyboard. I had a similar problem on an inspiron 6400 and I had to VERY CAREFULLY remove the keyboard, then the button to reach the bubble switch which had lost the plastic bushing that covered the shorting contact, good luck given the insane price that dell wanted for a new keyboard fixing it myself was the option.

You can use the following steps to restore your Dell Note book

WARNING: You will loose all your data and softwares which you have saved or installed your self. So before making restore please make backup copy for all of your data.

And proceed the followings if you are sure that you have backup of all your important records and files.

To restore you need not to use any disk as Dell has stored every thing in your hidden partion. Follow the steps and you will get it restore as it was originally shipped by company.

1 Turn on the computer.
2 As the computer starts, press <F8> on the keyboard until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.
new_note.jpg Note: You must press <F8> before the Windows logo appears on the screen. If you press <F8> after the Windows logo appears on the screen, the Advanced Boot Options menu will not appear on the screen. If you do not see the Advanced Boot Options menu, restart the computer, and then repeat this step until you see the menu on the screen.
3 Press the <Down Arrow> on the keyboard to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press <Enter>.
4 Specify the language settings that you want, and then click Next.
5 Log in as a user who has administrative credentials, and then click OK.
6 Click Dell Factory Image Restore.
7 In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next.
8 Click to select the Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition check box.
9 Click Next.
The computer is restored to the default factory configuration.
10 When the restore operation is completed, click Finish to restart the computer.
The software is now installed as it was when the computer was first received.

Thanks

Sure, this just mean your are in charging mode, but your battery is at full charge. Should your battery need charging and in charging mode the lights would be green most likely.

laptop works fine in safe mode but freezes in normal mode

im using a dell inspiron 2200 laptop was working fine now it just freezes up when i start it up but its ok in safe mode but no sound please help

Okay, easiest first. In Safe Mode, your sound won't work. Safe Mode means only enough drivers to make your PC more than a doorstop get loaded, so that's okay.

Second, if it boots to Safe Mode without difficulty, try running System Restore in System Tools. Go back to some date before when your issue started. That should get you going. Don't worry, your data files will not be affected in System Restore. I hope this helps.

keyboard connector on motherboard dell inspiron2200

Hi. I am adding a USB keyboard and mouse to my Dell Inspiron2200 laptop. So.....I will no longer need or use the existing internal keyboard. I see that the internal laptop keyboard is connected to the motherboard with a ribbon cable. Once I free the unused internal keyboard from the connector, can i reuse that slot? Can I plug another device into the motherboard connector, like a DVD drive with a ribbon cable? I know this is a strange modification.....but I would much appreciate any advice before I try it! Thank you much.

personnally I would not try this. If this is the only laptop you have. now if its just a machine you tinker with you can try it. but for functunality I would leave the keyboard intact incase you ever want to use the portability of the laptop.
