I just bought a Dell Latitude C510/C610 ...it will

Try to find the setting for what is listed below....it may help out with the laptop finding the new drive. Even if your new drive is a SATA configuration, try below it may help you.

BE SURE that you put the Hard Drive on "Compatibility" mode in BIOS, which was defaulted to "AHCI" (Compatibility is also known as IDE).

To change that setting, you need to do the following:

1. Press F2 when booting up the computer
2. Select 'Config', then 'Serial ATA (SATA)'
3. Change controller option to 'Compatibility' / 'IDE'

Audio driver sigmatel not installing automatically

Well if you have the drivers, please follow the instructions; Go to device manager.. Right click on the "My Computer" - "Manage" and from left pane, click "Device Manager" check if there's any "Yellowed" on the left pane, if so right click on the yellowed link and "Update driver" a new windows "Found New Hardware" wizard will pop up. Select "No, not this time only" and next, select "Install from the list or specific location" next - Tick mark "Include this location in the search" and Browse the driver to the location/directory where you saved it or to your Cd. Click open/Ok and follow the onscreen instructions, if you are prompted with any error message like "Driver digitally not signed" just click "yes" or "continue anyway" and then next. Of if you don't see any yellowed link then go to "Sound, video and game controllers" There it should be, follow the same instruction as mentioned above from "Right click on the yellowed link." Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

I have an oldDell Latitude C610, when I try to

Hi. You might need to run diagnostics on the hard drive by restarting your computer then press F12 on the Dell logo and select "Boot to Utility Partition".

I'm suspecting that you have a busted hard drive and if it is, then just replace the hdd.

Cannot find the reset for my dell laqtitude

Normally on a Dell Latitude it should be in this sequence,

have your computer shut down, then turn it back on as soon as you see the dell splash screen or Logo press and hold down CTRL+ F11 for at least 4-5 seconds would do, if that does not start the page giving you the option to recover your system to defaults try CTRL+E same procedure as CTRL+F11

If all else fails I suggest Calling dell for a quick info on how to do the factory defaults dell quick restoration .

My son changed log on code on computer by mistake

There is no real easy way to get past the sign on password in Windows, however I can help you with it. Please go to this site and read the article. You can log on by using a sign- on name ADMINISTRATOR with no password if it is XP. You can also download and burn a Password Tool. They list several on this article. If all else fails email me at [email protected] Good Luck Phil

This happens when anything draws over 500mA, of current, if it was working OK, before, and is working now but displays that message, or not working, well in any case it seems to have gone faulty, and somehow, is now drawing more current drain, the USB port can supply. It may have been spiked too.from all the plug/unplug especially if the safely remove hardware is not used.

I have a stuck key on my lab top computer but i do

Hi:
There is not an easy way to see which key is sticking on your laptop. The good news is that a replacement keyboard will fix the problem, and it is easy to swap out, and not too expensive. They are usually only about $20 on ebay, and instructions are available too. If you buy a keyboard, and don't feel up to changing it, most computer shops will help you swap it out for not too much cash...
Hope you fix it!

Did you check with the institute whether they provide repairing services? Usually, when institutes provide equipment in large scales, they either have repair services at hand, or can send them to the manufacturer/supplier to be replaced (or fixed, of course). I think that would be the best option, possibly the only one...
Best of luck!

If you have been disabled by the administrator, you need to talk to that person.

If this is your machine and you are the administrator, you have logged yourself in with a user name and password that does not have admin rights to the machine. If this is true, try logging on as "Administrator" or "Admin" and then use your normal password. Hope this helps.
