Check out the memory card with another known working card. If that one also does not work then the issue is with your camera electronics.

'When it comes to playback things are a little less satisfactory, with a noticeable delay scrolling between images and the battery life using regular AA cells is disappointing - a set of copper-top Duracells expired at around the 200 frame mark, which may be OK for a day's shoot, but NiMH rechargeables or Energiser Lithium cells are preferable.

Suggest if you have or can borrow a second lens try it. It may be the lens assembly that has become jammed not allowing the camera body to make adjustments. Confirm that the lens release snaps when the lens is rotated into lock position. Confirm that the contacts between the lens and body camera appear clean. Set camera to manual remove and reinstall lens and power up see if fault is present with manual indicating an auto focus problem

Check the bayonet mount for debris

Hi, card read error can be a faulty card or a problem with your camera. Only way of checking is if you have another card to try in the camera or if you have a card reader that you can put the card into and connect to your pc and see if that is able to read the card if the card is able to be read by the pc then it looks like a camera problem.

The easiest and probably the fastest is to format the memory card. Without knowing the model of your camera I can't tell you how to do that, please consult your camera manual.
