Remove and then replace the black ink. Make sure you remove any sealing tape that may be covering holes in the ink cartidge. While the ink cartidge is removed, you might also want to give it good shake. Finally, the cartrice may juat have been too old - they age even when in the packaging, and most have an expiry date.

Sounds like your print head is clogged. Follow the manufacturers instructions for cleaning the print-head.

The Epson C64 should be straightforward with respect to plugging the machine in, since the connection is USB. The USB cable plugs into a USB port on your computer and the power cord plugs into a wall outlet.
Perhaps the trickiest thing is determining the software needed to allow the printer to work properly. The software needed is determined by your operating system, e.g. Mac OS, Windows XP, Windows 7, etc.

Try the following steps.
1) remove the ink cartride and ckeck for damages
2) remove the ink cartridge and replace it securly.
Else the ink cartridge is faulty.

On this printer, the black colour is a separate cartridge.

It is possible that is has run out of ink or maybe is blocked in some way.

Try removing the black cartridge and hold it up to a bright light to check the ink level.

Make sure the contacts where the ink flows out are clean and not blocked with dirt.

If there is plenty of ink but it still won't print then try a new black cartridge.

Issues in color printer are many. The most common one is the non-printing of color prints. This issue might be due to corrupted or incompatible drivers in your printer. When the driver installed in a color printer is corrupted or not installed correctly it might lead to issues. So in order to solve this issue you need to install or replace the corrupted driver with a new powerful driver; or reinstall the driver since the issue might be due to wrong installation of drivers.

I managed to solve the problem, thanks to this fantastic freeware tool: http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml The problem has to do with the porous inkpads which are expected to overflow after a fixed number of nozzle cleaning cycles. However the problem is a software, not a hardware one. This great tool resets countes as well as ink cartridge chips. Thank you very much FixYa all the same for trying. tendency is that the tubes for the ink might be clogged. what you can try to do is spray it with wd40 leave it for 3 to 4 hrs then try again. make sure you put a rag in the bottom for the spills to be catched.

If the error message reads parts inside the printer are at the end of its service life, and both red lights flashing alternately while power light is off, it is an indication that the waste ink pad is full and needs to be replaced. This part is not user replaceable so you need to take in the printer for service.

you can use either the installation disc that came with the printer or download the driver from the internet or manufacturer's site

make sure that the printer is compatible to the computer before you install it to the system

-turn off printer
-disconnect from computer
-load a couple sheet of plain paper
-press & hold paper feed button while turning the printer on
-it should print a test page if it is working fine, otherwise it is bound for service

you might see a little banding in the low quality mode but if you see it in the high quality mode or in text then you have a clogged jet .. you can run the nozzle cleaning utility .. that will usually fix it .. sometimes you have to run it more than once .. if cleaning doesnt help then you might need a new head (expensive) ..

After installing SSC, you can reset your ink status from your pc and you should be good to go!
