This is because you have selected the low quality printing in printing option. You have 5 printing quality in your Epson printer.
To go to this option, follow the below steps.
When you give the print option a box opens and you can see a custom option there.Check the custom option and it will take you to other option where it show all the advanced setting option.
In this box you find a colum called as print quality select the best quality and it will be fine.
Thank You

Need more info.

Are you printing from a computer directly attached to the 9600 ?
Are you printing through a network.

If you are using a networked printer then your print job could be slowed a good bit by heavy network traffic.

This is the only advice I can give you.

The next step would be to disassemble the Epson, and clean the Pads/Heads. Click on link below.:

I located a page on http://www.fixyourownprinter.com forum, which had plenty of details about similar issues.

If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

I have not worked on such a large machine, but it sounds like the ink waste station likely need cleaning. All smaller inkjet printers have silicone wiper blades that clean excess ink off the print head surface, if the blades are heavily saturated in junked up ink they may not be cleaning the print head appropriately. I have cleaned many wiper sleds with warm water and Q-tips, but always on home or SOHO machines. If this is not something you feel comfortable doing, call a professional technician, I'm sure that machine is worth and simple service call.

make sure you use epson paper because epson printers are sensitive, sometimes, using other brand's paper wont work

i apologize for the inconvinience.

the possible reason why its printing the right color, is bec. some of the nozzles might be clogged by dried inks, so when inks come out, the combination of colors are not balance. try printing a nozzle check first, if the nozzle check have gaps or breaks, try head cleaning, nozzle check after it so you can see if it improve or still w/ gaps, just do nozzle check, head cleaning, then nozzle check, head cleaning alternately until no more gaps then try to print.

Printing a nozzle check pattern
Load paper in your printer
In SelecType mode, press the Paper Feed (fontu1.gif) or Paper Feed (fontd1.gif) button until TEST PRINT is displayed on the LCD panel, and then press the SelecType button.
Press Paper Feed (fontu1.gif) or Paper Feed (fontd1.gif) button to display NOZZLE CHECK
Press SelecType button to display PRINT
Press the Enter button. The nozzle check pattern is printed as shown below. After printing, printer exits the SelecType mode and return to the READY status.
Nozzle check pattern examples:
yoi.gif head cleaning necessary

headcleaning: press the cleaning button for 3 seconds

Try printing at the slowest or best setting for a while. You would be wasting a lot of ink if you do head cleaning several times.

was this cartridge a new one or a so called re-manufactured/refilled, if it was a reman then it will not work, newer printers have a chip in them that burns out when the ink is exhausted, the reason for this they want u to buy a new very expensive Epson Cartridge.

It's the counter for the CR motor. You can reset and continue printing if you haven't noticed any problems in your printing. To reset turn off the main power and press and hold : Paper source, Paper Feed, and Cut/Eject. Turn the main power back on while holding these down. The maintenance menu will come up scroll through till you get to reset counters and press > scroll down to CR Motor press > again and then execute. Wait 10 seconds or so and turn the power off and back on. It will be reset and you can continue printing. If your print quality declines you will need to replace the motor.
