I have had my Dyson DC14 for two years and have never had any issues. Suddenly it is very hard to push on the carpet compared to tile flooring. I actually have to strain to push it. I have the button next to the power button pushed on as it should be for carpet. My belt also appears to be fine. Any ideas?
I know this sounds silly, but it works. Turn it over and wipe all the black residue off the bottom of it (off the plastic on the bottom that rubs on the carpet as you push and pull it). I thought my husband was out of his mind when he told me that was the solution, but it really works.

hovering normally for 30 seconds in up right position then loss off suction then loss of air through valve at top of filter above cyclone.
It sounds like the same problem I was having. I had loss of suction through he hose then all of the air was coming out through the vent/valve on top of canister. If you are looking at your dyson from the back, look at the bottom. You will see a purple plastic tab on the bottom left. That allows you to remove the plastic u-shaped hose that goes from the hose to the bottom of the dyson. I just removed that and found it was completley blocked. I removed it and the dyson has no loss of suction orair through top valve/vent. I hope this helps. I never post but i'm just excited that I got my dyson working perfectly again.

dyson dc25 animal: cannot remove the telescope reach wand.
The hose is getting twisted on the machine and so the wand gets stuck in the hose.
1) Pull the wand out as far as you can - if you can pull it out completely, separate it from the hose and apply baby powder to the
metal rod. Stretch out the hose and unwind it. In the future, separate the wand and unwind/stretch the hose after use.
2) If you can't pull the wand out all the way, remove the canister/dirt bin from the front. Look for a gray button with 7 vertical
lines/grooves on it (it'll be just above the ball on the opposite side of the bottom hook that you wind the cable around).
3) Push the button and at the same time pull the hose out from the bottom by pulling on the hook - this will release the gray hose
from the machine. Take it off of the machine if possible (the bottom of the wand may stop you from doing so - if it does, try to pull
the wand out until you can release the hose from the bottom)
4) Pull and stretch the hose out and pull the wand at the same time - separate the wand from the hose and unwind the gray hose and
stretch it out. Rub baby powder on the metal rod of the wand and in future, disconnect the wand from the hose and stretch/unwind the
hose after every time you use the wand.

I have a Dyson DC14 animal. I cleaned the hair off the brush bar and while doing so the bar slipped out of the case (Belt still attached) I put the brush bar back in and put the cover on but now I can't get the bar to turn. I think the bar must not be in right but cannot find a diagram or instructions on what is the correct placement. HELP
You don't need to take it for repairs, I just corrected the same problem on the phone with a tech. Have the head on your lap, make sure the end nearest the little belt has the rounded side of the bar facing you. The squared off end faces towards the machine. Place your left hand pointy finger under the bar (the 2 inch bar next to the little belt) and lift up, while finessing the loose end of the bar into place, with the rounded part still facing you. Then it sort of snaps into place. Now, replace the face plate. In the upright mode, starting at the carpet dial, switch the dial back and forth between carpet and bare floor, ten times. (the tech actually referred to this as re-setting the vac. LOL) Plug the vac in, incline the hand, and start. It should work. It didn't for me the first time and made a horrible sound. That meant I had to go and repeat the process again, but lo and behold, IT WORKED! When in doubt, call the tech and don't let them get away from you; have them stay on the line until the problem is resolved.

I need the locations of dyson service centers
If you call dyson at 1-866-693-9766 they will give you a list of locations near you. And if there aren't any locations near you they will help you arrange to ship it directly to them(don't know about the cost of shipping it though). Good luck.

The wand on my Dyson DC14 Animal no longer has suction. The upright part works fine. There's enough suction to collapse the hose on my wand, but won't pick up anything. I have checked the hose and u-shaped tube at bottom and there's no blockage.
Hi its Darran at Dyson.
It sounds as though the wand handle is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose from the machine as if you were going to use it to vacuum the stairs. Switch the machine on and test the suction at the top of the wand handle with your hand. If the suction from the wand is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction again from the top of the hose. If the suction here is good, then you know the wand handle is blocked. If the suction is poor at the hose, you can remove the hose from the machine and clear any blockages here.
For the full blockage procedure please visit the support section on our website at www.dyson.com.
Kind regards
Darran

dyson dc14 brush bar is not turning at all. Everything else seems to be fine. I just replaced the brush bar but still no movement. What else could it be?
Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC14 Animal. If the brushbar doesn't rotate, please check you have the brush control set to 'Carpets', not 'Hard floors'. The brushbar will not rotate when the machine is standing upright, so please recline it into the vacuuming position before testing it.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, please give our Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can provide further assistance.
Best wishes,
Jack
