to access bios, press f1 immediately at boot, at 1 second intervals. you need to change the graphix adapter from "integrated agp" to "agp" or "pci", depending on your card. this should be under, "boot options>initial display device".
since you prolly have to do this with the integrated video hooked up (since it will be set to "internal vga" until changed) you are prolly up a creek without a paddle.

The computer turns on but will not start the
One bad/faulty lead can cause a computer with lots of problems
replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
hope this helps

try using it in a cooler place, clean out the air vents.
Turn on press f2 or f12 to access the bios and work your way through the bios looking for settings which set operating temperatures for fans etc. adjust as necessary. Beware though getting it wrong will fry pc.

Computer comes on sometimes and sometimes just the fan
Maybe it is the ON/OFF switch. I have that problem with my computer once-in-a-while. Sometimes it won't power on or sometimes while it is on it shuts off. The reason I haven't done anything is because all I do is unplug the power cord from the back for about 30 seconds or so, plug it back in and It works. Not saying it is your problem but since it is free and worth a shot, try it.

Frozen keyboard & mouse on Acer Notebook
You may have a motherboard failure problem. I would ask you to check the drivers and update them but will be hard to do if you can't get past load screen. You best bet may to get a copy of system recovery and boot pc with the disk installed. Wipe computer completely clean and reinstall windows.

On my Gateway tower the power switch will not stay
This sounds like the symtoms of a power switch that may have failed and need to be replaced, or the power supply may be bad. (It could be both; don't keep trying to make a bad switch work, if it's shorting out.)
You can have the power supply load tested by a local computer tech if you take it in to them, and a new one is usually about $30.00. If the switch itself is bad, there is a way to jump the connection on the motherboard to check this, and in that case the machine will boot normally, and the power switch will have to be replaced. You can sometimes get these used from recycled systems, at a considerable discount. Just make sure you get the correct part number before searching online.
In either case, it's a relatively simple fix, once you have the parts in hand...
Enter your serial number at Gateway support and you should be able to look up the part numbers for your system. Make sure if you search 'power switch' you order not the plastic bezel button but the actual switch component. If you're handy, you can replace this yourself.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

I have a DSUB Analog power saving mode on my
I found out today that it will require a new board. The connector for the moniter has been bumped or hit at some point and has a broken pin going into the front of the board. It probably could be repaired but it would require removal of the connector and also removal of the one above it.

Turn the comp. on only thefans come on.
It could be a bad RAM stick or a bad CPU, or if you know the insides of a computer good then unplug your CDROM, & hard drive (both cable to each drive), and if you have any cards on your PCI slots remove any of them but the video card. Also, keep your mouse and keyboard plugged in. Then try it.
