I have 10 year old gateway desktop, it suddenly woke up one morning & i can only get the gateway logo to come up Help

sounds like the boot file is corrupted or deleted. it may be fixed by shop with the appropriate tools. the file must be replaced and most people do not have access. otherwise you could restore the 'whole' system from backups if you have them or if you created a repair disk that may work. restoring takes time but its cheaper than a shop doing it or fixing it. good luck

Instel network controler driver code(28)

If you are having some problem finding the right update for all your drivers, then install RadarSync - it's an automatic driver updater. You don't have to do anything because it will scan and install all updates. David

Turns on, then shuts down before anything shows on monitor

I am an IT Tech of 11 years, I have found this problem and have solved this problem on the Gateway machines. Also works on the Gigabyte, ECS and Biostar motherboards in the same machine/s. It is not the memory, video, hard drive, or processor so rest assured. This is relatively an easy fix for those that are tech friendly. Remove the retarded one plug front panel power plug, remove the pins for the reset button and that does it. How you fix it from this point is up to you totally, but that does fix the problem. It is a common and frequent problem that mass producers have when developing wiring for them.

Gateway dx300 hard drive

Gateway DX300 Desktop PC is a series.Could be a Gateway DX300MC, or DX300QS, or DX300S, or DX300X,http://support.gateway.com/support/supinfo/index.asp?pg=2&file=DX300series.htmlFortunately all models in the series use a SATA harddrive.[ Gateway DX300X Desktop PC used as an example,http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/DX300/1008555/1008555nv.shtmlIn the list click on - ComponentsOn this page scroll down to the bold subheading - HarddrivesAll models came with a Western Digital harddrive, but it doesn't matter what the harddrive manufacturer is, that you use ]What size in GB amount? Depends on what you want. I myself wouldn't go more than 320GB. That is because your anti-virus program has to sift through the harddrive. The larger the harddrive, the longer it takes. For more capacity, I would install a 1TB harddrive into an external enclosure, and use it connected to the computer, with it's USB cable.(It will also come with an additional external power supply)But that is just me.Bear in mind that a new harddrive has no Operating System on it.You have to purchase a genuine copy of Windows, and install it.(This is if your harddrive presently on that Gateway is bad)[ Microsoft makes one Master disk. From it all GENUINE copies are made, and sold to the consumer ]Regards, joecoolvette

I want ethernet controller driver

Always get your drivers from the manufacturer of your Laptop, Notebook or Desktop.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, usually one is able to download if available, by model number, All available Driver downloads as required.

If the driver is not available, perhaps your manufacturer does not support the OS you are installing.

This is the best way of ensuring up to date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!

There are no XP drivers to be found with Microsoft as XP is no longer supported.

Some manufacturers may have a limited number of Drivers still listed.

I hope this helps.

Dell xps 410 desktop recently

Typically when it shuts off right after the POST screen exits, the problem is CPU related. But since you just added RAM,I'd strongly suggest that you put back what was originally there and see if that fixes the problem. You can also try your new sticks 1 at a time and see if any test bad by repeating your shut off problem. It's not all that uncommon to buy a bad stick, especially mail order or on-line.
If this helps, please rate my post?
Good luck, and post back if you need to ask anything else.I'll help with whatever I can.

Audio cuts in and out

Check your speakers, try switching them for something else before you do anything, if it still doesn't work then it's either a software or hardware problem. Hardware problem: I bet your audio card is integrated in your Mobo which means you can't just reset it and completely reinstall the firmware. Software: Go in your control panel and into your sound and audio devices then select the material tab. Then select the Realtek High Definition Audio codec and uninstall it before you reinstall the drivers.
If that doesn't work call Realtek customer support and explain your problem, they will probably have some magical arbitrary trick to fix your problem.
Hope this helps, please rate and testify.

If you go to the Gateway site (link below) and enter in your serial number you can download all the drivers you need for your operating system. That is the best way to make sure you have all the correct drivers for the hardware unless there is something else more specific you need.

System wont turn on and there is a solid green

hello, this be caused by several things , i am assuming your are okay with opening up a PC since you have already changed the onboard battery.

here are few things you can try to further troubleshoot:
1: though the ligh on motherboard is on, power supply can still be faulty, so lets test that with a paper clip trick,
follow this link there are pictures and very clear instructions: http://www.ehow.com/how_4732521_test-desktop-power-supply.html
if power supply is bad, well then you know what to do... change it.
if the power supply is good:
2: remove all the RAM (memory) chips from motherboard and plug the power cable back in and observe the response (you may or maynot hear THREE beeps) now plug in memory chip and try powering up and try with one chip at a time...if PC boots up with any of the chips in it you knkow you have a faulty memory.
if that didn't work:
3: with everthing put back together try disconnecting just the hard drive and power it to see if you see BIOS screen.
if not:
4: many time this worked for me with Gateway PCs, reseating CPU in its slot but only do it you feel confident doing it because you can end up with a GIANT door stop if any of the pins on the CPU are/is damaged.
you would need some thermal-paste to go back on between CPU and heatsink.
if that didn't work..i think you are up to buying new PC.

let me know if you need more help or not clear about anything...
good luck

Need drivers, reloading xp. No disks available

Hopefully you have not tried to reload XP yet.
URL=http://www.drivermagician.com/
Back up the current drivers with Driver magician lite.
CD/Floppy disk/Mem stick.
Then have at it. :)

Majority of the INF files are found under C:\Windows/INF
Even then installing OVER your existing XP the drivers should still be there. Unless you tell it to wipe and start from scratch.

Some viri and spyware programs can be so difficult to get rid of or cause so much damage. It is easier to wipe the system and start over.
If this is the case:
Ounce of Prevention is worth a pound of cure:
Spybot search and Destroy
Comodo firewall
ZoneAlarm Firewall
(Basically anything but the windows firewall)
Tip: Only run one firewall!!!!

AVG Free virus protection
NOD32 Virus protection (excellent but not free) 30 day trial however.

IObit360 (Highly recommened and fast!)

Good luck!
