I can't download anything.

Are you using Internet Explorer? Just go to the top of the screen with your mouse and RIGHT click on the very top part of the screen. It should bring up a small menu, look for Menu Bar, and LEFT click beside it (it will put a small check mark beside it to show that the option is enabled). You can show or hide many of the info bars along the top with this method. If you pick one that you dont want anymore, just open the menu again and click on the check mark to unselect it. Did this help?

Gateway essential 500 blinking cursor, how do i uninstall windows i have a windows 98 to put in will that work?

Yes, but does the system see the hard drive? Your hard drive is missing from the system. Or, just does not recognize it. The obvious - Remove any USB devices like drives and any media from disc player. Its trying to load, but can't find bootable hard drive, CD, or USB... Remove the hard drive and reseat (reconnect). Check BIOS by pressing an F key during boot. Look on the screen for correct Function key. Might be F2 key. Verify BIOS recognizes the drive. It must be listed! There is no going forward if it's not. Check boot order and make internal hard drive first. Save and restart.

How do you set the system date and time

To set the Date & Time, go into the BIOS setting - date 7 time. When you set the Date & Time and you get this error again when you next boot up your computer, then most likely you have a flat BIOS battery. Then replace this battery, it could be a coin size battery - 3 volt lithium battery type CR2032. and then go into the BIOS setting and set the Date & Time.

No sound coming from new hp monitor through windows vista

Alright, I got the answer for ya, first, go into your control panel. Click on Sounds and Audio Devices. Listed in this window should be the name of your sound card. Under that, should be Device Volume, and at the bottom, should be the Speaker Settings, click into Advanced, next to speaker volume. It should show you a diagram of a monitor with the amount of speakers it has selected shown next to it. Where it says Speaker Setup, click and then scroll down until you see 3 settings labeled Monitor Stereo, Monitor Stand Stereo, and Monitor Mounted Stereo. Whatever one enables the sound will be the one you want to stick with.

I got A gateway essential 500 from a goodwill

Any EIDE (non Sata) interal drive should work on this computer. However, first I would check the internal cables on the drive to ensure the are plugged in tight (you may just have a loose cable). Check both the mother board end and the drive end.

Personally I would go puppy linux over 98, but that is me.

Hope this helps, have a great day and good luck.

I have a Gateway model

Hi,

After re-installation of Windows XP operating system on a desktop computer, the only icon that is normally present on the desktop is for the "Recycle Bin"

You will have to move the other icons like "My Computer" and "My Documents" to the desktop. To do this use these steps:

1) Click on the Start button.

2) Then Right-click the "My Computer" link (see attached image) and select "Show on Desktop" from the menu.

3) Using the above steps, move the "My Documents" icon to the Desktop.

If you have lost/misplaced the driver disk, you can download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's support website by clicking this link

Other softwares and programs (which you were using prior to re-installation of Windows XP) will have to be downloaded and installed seperately.

For more help and clarifications, please feel free to reply to this post.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa.

I WANT TO KNOW HOW

If your additional Hard drive is SATA use SATA cable and SATA power to get it done.
Or else use IDE and D type power to connect.

Make sure that you have switched off the computer before installing the HDD

Gateway 500 desktop pc 133 ram drivers for xp

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers, for spare parts and service, Driver downloads and Installation Instructions as required.

This is the best way of ensuring up to date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!

I hope this helps.

How to install upgrade sdram 128 pc133 for gateway

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Place the computer's power switch in the "off " position and disconnect the AC power cord. 2. Remove the computer's top cover following the instructions in the model-specific owner's manual.
3. Before touching any electronic components, make sure you first touch an unpainted, grounded metal object to discharge any static electricity stored on your clothing or body.
4. Locate the memory expansion sockets on the computer's motherboard. If all the sockets are full, remove smaller capacity modules to allow room for higher capacity modules.
5. Handle your new module's carefully; do not flex or bend the module(s). Always grasp the module by its edges.
6. For some installations, DIMM memory can be installed in any available expansion slot. Other installations may require the memory to be installed in a particular sequence based on the modules capacity. Check your owner's manual to determine the correct installation sequence for your configuration.

  • Insert the module into an available expansion socket. Note how the module is keyed to the socket. This ensures the module can be plugged into the socket one way only. Firmly press the module into position, making certain the module is completely seated in the socket. Repeat this procedure for any additional modules you are installing.
  • Most 168-pin DIMM modules have ejector tabs. The ejector tabs are used only when you need to remove a module. By pressing down on the ejector tabs, the module will pop-up from the socket and it can be removed.
  • install_dimmslot.gif
    7. Once the modules have been installed, the computer's top cover can be reinstalled.
    8. Plug in the AC power cord and reinstall any cables disconnected during the installation process.
    9. Turn on the computer and follow the instructions in your computer owner's manual that describe the steps necessary to allow your computer to recognize the newly installed memory.
