1. You possibly will need to replace the power supply.
Hard to determine here with out physically seeing the PC but I 'm 90% sure it is the power supply not supplying proper voltage to the system board and hard drive. You will need a tech to check the voltage at the mother board inputs. You should have -12,+12,-5,+5 at key socket points

Hi there,
Before you get started on the restore disk, switch off the PC first and open up the CPU to make sure everything is well connected inside. If needed, unplug and plug the wires back in. See if it works when you start back on the PC. If it doesn't then go for the recovery disk.

It seems that after you did the repair your XP operating system is just using a XP service pack 1, so in order for us to correct the problem we need to download and install the XP service pack 2 to your computer.

I really could use more information but will suggest updating the video drivers as well as the DirectX driver (9.0C) from Microsoft.

Since I have no idea on what all you have done, I have some questions / suggestions.
1st: Have you Defragmented your computer? If not this month, please do so ASAP.
2nd: How much free space is left on your hard drive? You need over 15% free space.
3rd: Have you cleaned out you cookies, temp Files & Temp. Internet Files?
4th: Every item you add or install anything on your computer, it starts running each time you boot up.
This eats up your limited power and processor.To see this you will need to use the CRTL/ALT/DELETE keys to open up your TASK MANAGER
On the right side you will see a TAB called START UP. Each item that is checked or ********** is running in the background.
You do not need this stuff running. Its a gift of Microsoft to make it start faster for you and is no longer a needed item since you have so much power.
Uncheck most if not all items, like MSN or YAHOO chat, Games and anything not directly related to the computer operation.

No you don't need a driver. These are very plain powered speakers that come with a mains adapter and a lead with a 3.5mm stereo jack at both ends. Plug one in the speaker and the other into the headphone jack on the front or the speaker socket on the back which will either be a socket on the motherboard, or if your son put a sound card in the computer, it will be in a sound card. f you want to use your touch screen on your gateway computer in an upside down orientation, there are a few things you need to do. They deleted the Operating System by deleting their own stuff Docs, images, Saved Links etc. and also everything in Windows System probably in spite. You need to reload the operating system (Win 11) from fresh. Charge them from their final pay check, or ask IT to do it.

When I Google the model number the first thing that shows is Replacement LCD Screens for it which leads me to believe there is an issue with them. There is three parts to the display, the video card section, the exciter module and the screen itself. It needs correct diagnosis, or buy a new one now you have reset it clean, if that is what you mean by 'hard restart'? You might mean 'hard boot', power off and back on without proper shutdown. Thats a pretty old PC but still usable. You might have a bad video card or the heat sink has failed. Adding some thermal paste to the processors heatsink will probably fix this. If not, replace or add a video card. The video card can be found pretty cheap online.
