when trying to print a screen after saving information, i get the
message line 3061 chunk overlocked. lt requires a hard reset to get the
ibm workpad c500 to work again, and the information that was entered
prior to the message is lost.

The WorkPad c500 and c505 can be used only with PCs running Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows 2000 operating systems.
NOTE: Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft NT 4.0, or serial connectivity, require a serial HotSync cradle or cable, available separately from Palm, Inc. The WorkPad HotSync utility will not sync via IR when the host PC is running Windows 2000.

Palm Inc., the manufacturer of the IBM WorkPad, has recently informed IBM that a limited number of IBM WorkPad c500 and c505 models may be unable to use the HotSync function if a static electric discharge (ESD) takes place when the WorkPad is placed in the cradle. Palm Inc. has designed a new cradle for this condition. It has the Palm Inc. logo on it, but also works with these WorkPad models. Palm Inc. has a Web site that provides more information on this issue and also contains the Palm Cradle Exchange Program, which allows owners of eligible models to receive a new cradle. To determine if your WorkPad is eligible and to place an order for a replacement cradle, please visit the Palm Inc. Web site.

Tastiera indicated that you have a keyboard problem. Most desktops can't run without a working keyboard. (You need the keyboard connected and working during the power-on self test, POST.) Currently the motherboard can't communicate with the keyboard.
What is the model number for your computer? I don't recall a Platinum III, just a Pentium III. Is it a laptop or a desktop? What type of keyboard do you have (USB or PS/2 connector) or is it the built-in one of a laptop? Are you using some sort of converter/adapter for the connections? The USB to PS/2 converter for a mouse does not work with a keyboard. There are some USB to dual PS/2 converters available. However, they don't work with with all motherboards. What OS is installed on the system?
Try a different keyboard. (You should try a PS/2 keyboard if the system has PS/2 ports. If the OS is older than Windows 98 v. 2, then the USB ports are even more likely to not see the keyboard in POST.) If you use a USB keyboard, try different ports. If possible, make sure that the keyboards work on other machines. If it does, then I recommend replacing the system. The Pentium III is a ~20 year old CPU. That's certainly old enough to have major failures.
