Hearing a 'beep' is usually to warn you there is a fault. I do not know a single long beep as a code for your Notebook. Turn it on and do not touch anything, and see if there are any short beeps and/or other long beeps, and let us know Quite often it is a fan problem, can you hear your fan running and does it sound normal?

The beeps are telling you something is not right.
Every beep is different and I'm not 100% on what means what.
Most likely something is not inserted right into the motherboard.
Go back and check you inserted the ram correctly, if that dosn't work try checking your cables (ide, power, etc.) and your cards (video, sound, etc.) as they might have slipped out of place when inserting the ram.
You might even have a bad/faulty part in the motherboard. Check the new ram stick and see if it works without it.
These basic troubleshooting steps should help you find the problem. If not it could be the cpu is burnt out.....the way to know this is if you unplug it, the beeps will disapeir or change completely.
Maby someone else on FixYa could tell you what the exact beep could be but I'm pretty sure its just something not plugged in right or a faulty part like I had just mentioned. Either way your computer should work fine once the problem is traced and fixed.

follow this steps and fix it. God bless youIf the freeze happens every time a certain hardware device is plugged in or switched on, the device itself might be to blame. Check the manufacturer's website for updated drivers for the device, and download and install them to erase any bugs that might exist in your version. Similarly, if the freeze only happens when using one particular application, that program might also be the root cause. Check the developer's website for updates. If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall the program. This process replaces any software files or settings that may have been damaged or deleted.

Try reinstalling the USB drivers. The same model ThinkPad can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download the drivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true

The problem is a flat BIOS battery. This battery keeps the Date & Time and other laptop setting stored in the BIOS. When the battery is flat then these settings are lost when you switch off the laptop. You need to replace the BIOS batters thn go into the BIOS to set the Date & Time then you will not have further problems.

Is this a printer you have installed and are trying to print to it? Maybe you don't have the printer configured properly. More than likely you should be using a usb port instead of a com1 port if it is a printer. Open your printer and check the properties.Modems also use com ports, so check your setup if you are using a modem.

If you have power and the hard drive is active, hook a spare monitor to the video output, if picture okay! the problem is the inverter board or the backlight behind the LCD display. If symptoms are the same for both, the video graphics card is suspect usually built into the motherboard. Lastly, sub the ram out one at a time and try and power on, one bad stick will give or kinds of issues.

if you hear the windows log in sound it means the display is t blame and most likely the back-light inverter is out and need to be changed or some contact wire.. In this case you need to open it and change the inverter or change the display .If it does show a few devices and the logo screen when you open it ..and after that when it boots up in windows it shows the black screen ..it is a video card settings error and you need to either reinstall windows or try to boot in safe mode and reinstall the graphic card ..In this case it is nothing wrong physically .. but just a setting made is unsupported and this causes the lack of image .. Also if it is just the back light inverter you should have an idea of image if you look real carefully .. its kinda like a shadow .. and if this scenario is happens and you have a shadow image it means there is nothing wrong with the display itself but just the back light inverter is dead.. and will be cheaper to replace ..let me know what you've managed to do ..
