Restore default settings for ibm thinkpad r50
Hi, During the boot at the THINKPAD SCREEN press the Thinkvantage key ( Blue button ) it will launch rescue and recovery and allow you to reboot factory. This only works if you did not corrupted/deleted the rescue and recovery hidden partition on the HDD.
Otherwise you will need the rescue and recovery CD to proceed. IBM/Lenovo support should be able to provide you the CD.
thanks and have a nice day J-
How can i rest my thinkpad netbook bios supper
Hi,
If you are talking about the Boot, HDD, Bios password, then the only one way to recover it is to implement a chip on the systemboard to shorcut the protection or to contact Lenovo for a systemboard replacement.
Unfortunalty, no other ways other round.
Thanks and have a nice day

Need to find start up disk for windows xp pro/ ibm
Well this web page has the specs for you laptop:-

From what I've seen, it probably had XP loaded originally.
Now you could try contacting Microsoft for a genuine copy of XP complete with COA. Of see if you can get a copy from a PC shop or even ebay.
I'd be tempted to go down the slightly more adventurous route and download a copy of XUBUNTU. Its a Linux based operating system. A lighter version of the main (Ubuntu) designed for older laptops.
Downloaded (securiry tool) program by mistake
There are a lot of websites which say that this is a security tool but in reality it isn't its a virus. Thats why you cant remove it. It must be saying that you have a hundreds of viruses, buy the software to remove them.
Always remember to switch on your firewall in the future and always download software from a safe website.
You can try removing it by going in the safe mode.
To go in the safe mode, keep pressing F8 while the laptop is booting and then a list will appear, select the top most item which says "Safe Mode".
Then once you have booted up, goto control panel, then click add/remove programs search for the name of the software and uninstall it.
Hope this helps,
Please feel free to ask me for further information.

Bought a new battery (larger one) and it will only
Check if the battery is already fully charged. If it is, the charger will stop charging when battery is 100% charged.
You can check this by unplugging the charger cord from the laptop. If the battery is not fully charged, plug in the charger cord into the laptop again, start the computer and enter the BIOS. In the BIOS, look to see if you have a "battery check" and start it. This will test the charging and discharging cycles of the battery.

Can't wake up my Thinkpad..
Try this, Remove battery, Remove RAM, wait... 5 mins, replace the RAM, Then, Plug in the Power supply ONLY. Now press and hold the Power Switch. It should come on.. When/if it does, Shut down as normal, and replace the battery and try again... If it doesn't work now with battery, battery is faulty, or too flat to be any good.. Try an 8 hour, or overnight charge. & try again, if still no good, it is a battery problem,. If not. then you have another sort of problem that you will have to troubleshoot.
