How to reset power on password for laptop ibm g40

If you're talking about a BIOS password, then you will not likely get it reset or removed. There are some laptops that have a small "Reset" hole on the bottom of the laptop. If yours has one, then it will say "reset" next to it. Most laptops don't have that option anymore. The only other way is to get the BIOS chip on your motherboard replaced. If you're going to go thru all that hassle and money, then you would probably be better off buying a new laptop or a reconditioned one.

Adding a monitor to ibm thinkpad using ubuntu

When you connext an external monitor to the laptop, power up the monitor then power up the laptop. The video infomation should automatically divert to the extermal monitor. You can toggle between the external monitor and the LCD screen by pressinf the blue Fn key + F7 key.
If you cannot get an image on the external monitor, then it is likely the video card is faulty and you can fix it by replacing the motherboard, but what is the point when the screen is broken also.

Drive got deleted

hi, you could either replace the hard drive for a larger one or invest in an external hard drive, these are really cheap at the moment and you can purchase a 1TB (1000gb roughly) for less than £80. i recommend ebuyer, fast delivery and value for money. (can i plug ebuyer?)
