If the battery is not charging,it can be that the battery itself works properly, but the system doesn't indicate that the battery is charging. in order to fix this problem, you will need to reinstall the battery management software by using Device Manager1.Open Device ManagerRight click on My Computer->select Properties->click Hardware tab->click Device Manageror if you're using Vista or windows 7,type "device" on the Start menu and select Device Manager2.Expand the Batteries category3.Under the Batteries category, right-click the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listing, and select Uninstall .WARNING: Do not remove the Microsoft AC Adapter driver or any other ACPI compliant driver.4. On the Device Manager taskbar, click Scan for hardware changes. Please let me know if it's works or not and thanks for using fixya

I have a problen with a lap ibm 600x thinkpad . shows error 19990305

if your bios is loading up completely then you need to reinstall the OS with a disk. If the bios is not loading up all the way you need to go into your bios and reset it to the defaults. If you can't access the bios you need a new motherboard and unfortunately with laptops it is cheaper to but a new laptop than a replacement motherboard. You can rip out the HDD though and put it into an external enclosure to get all your old files. then once you have all your old files off of it you can format the old HDD and you have an external HDD for future back up :)

When I disconnect my IBM ThinkPad R50e from an external monitor, the text on the laptop is wacky. How do I fix this?

Start, click Run, and type regedit to open the Windows registry editor.

In the registry, open the below folders.HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard\

Within the keyboard folder, you should have a string value named "InitialKeyboardIndicators" with a value of 0, 1, or 2. Below is the explanation of each of these values.0 = Num Lock is turned OFF after the logon.1 = Disable Num Lock.2 = Numlock is turned ON after the logon.

hope this helps

Keeps sticking

When folks purchase their computers in today's world. You have to go to their recommended download site and gather up your models recovery disc. If they provide the recovery disc for you in the box that is a serious plus. Some people just do not know how to download things off the net not know how to burn them. Companies do not wish to spend the large amounts of money it takes to provide each customer with a system restore disc these days.

Some companies still store them and other do not offering people no support at all when their computers fail. Anything computers before 2008 maybe even newer, will not have disc support let alone driver sites to go to. If you are lucky enough to have such a deal get all the goodies while you can. Companies have also set aside on your computer recovery section on your hard drive where you can recovery from there, So support is null and void really of any real change of talking to a tech guy mainly oversees, although at the time of sale sure we offer great support for your new machine. It can be frustrating to say the least been there done that one.

Now to solve that matter of restoring your computer and you are not going to like hearing this, you are going to need a factory restore disc, or you will have to follow those informative members who know if even there is a restore section on the hard drive or a method in which you can do this without a disc again often the case. If you do not have one available for your computer?

You can go back and restore from a saved image file you did or a backup in which most folks did not do in the beginning of time since they first started using their machines. "Imperative" Now you know why?

It simple really, for those of us who have done this several hundreds of times. Personally I like to get rid of all the factory junk that comes with computers these days. Most of it is junk filling up your computers, some of it is needed but really not needed with the deployment of Win 7. I always keep a copy of Windows 7 and use this disc when restoring computers. It is called and O.E.M. disc. Or you can just for you purchase a Win 7 disc. This way no junk no extra things on the hard drive that will pop up or disturb you with buy this and buy that sort of thing in your face.

You know why because Windows 7 in its update process keeps loads of driver and hardware files and software it seeks on your computer during the update and installs them for you if there is a driver that it does not pick up "Rare" it offers a solution as to where to find that driver file at. Thus support is done virtually. Unlike XP where you still have to seek out some driver files after restoring your machines in most cases. So my advice is Windows 7 if you can get a disc for yourself by all means do it. Make sure that you have the resources within your computer to do this update.

Place the system restore disc in the DVD or CD drive of your machine. Boot from that source first boot. Go to BIOS or where it set set the boot order and do this most machines are designed to boot from DVD or CD drives by default. Follow the onscreen instructions and there you have it a restored computer.

It would take me forever to seek out restore discs for every single question I answer. The main questions are, "how to restart my computer without a password" How do I restore my computer back to factory settings? If you do a little more research on your subject matter there are solutions other than just having a restore disc. However as much as I would love to be able to give everyone there complete answer and a complete solution to this issue. Many brands come into play and many different models as involved for me to find out if yours has restore capabilities located in a drive section.

Arrow keys stop working on the laptop keyboard

Hook a external keyboard to the computer, if okay! the laptop keyboard will need to be replaced, if no change! try a system restore bringing the computer back in time before this happened.

IBM Lenovo T400 missing boot manager at start up

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.
