Have you checked the ventilation area of the processor if it is blocked by dirt? It causes heat to processor, when it reaches a certain hot temperature, it automatically turns off to avoid further damage. Have it opened and be cleaned by a computer tech

A21m Irritating Noise
Is the sound constant?
Does it start as soon as you turn it on, or only when it's booted all the way up?
It sounds to me like a drive going out. Probably not the A: drive (by that I assume you mean a floppy drive), as those only turn when a disk is inserted. I'd guess it's the hard drive. However, that is only a guess - I can't give you more without more information. Regardless, if you don't feel comfortable opening the case, you'll have to take it to someone who does. Any experienced tech should be able to listen to it, and if it is the hard drive they will know that just from the sound.

you will either need to re-install windows, or search the internet for a password cracking utility. Since I don't feel comfortable giving explicit instructions to the whole internet, I am sorry to say you must google more than that.

Login using the guest account and then make another account as administrator and then delete the password. Or F8 when booting up system and go into safe mode you should then at least have access to the system and look for the solution from there.
I bought a used IBMA21 will not turn on
Hi,
Try removing all memory, re-installing 1 memory in 1 slot, and booting. If that doesn't work, try the same memory in the other slot. If no, try putting pressure on the memory (as if to push the slot into the motherboard). The battery really doesn't matter, and I would take the battery out, only using the ac adapter.
Good luck
Help me with IBM A21M Wireless problem.
Make sure that there are NO electrical devices between you and the wireless router. Some electrical devices will mess your signal up.
(cordless phones are known to mess with them) too.
Microwaves interfere with the signal from your router. Interference
means a low quality signal.
The following steps help you troubleshoot a bad
wireless connection. Stop following the steps when the connection
problem is solved:
1. Refresh the wireless connection that is giving you trouble.
2. Temporarily disable the firewall or Internet security software on the computer that is having connection troubles.
3.
Open the wireless connection manager and make sure that the SSID is
correct. Also make sure that encryption settings and keys match the
settings in your WAP (Wireless Access Point).
4. Restart DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) on your WAP; if necessary reboot the WAP.
5.
If the troublesome Wi-Fi adapter is removable - such as a USB, cardbus,
or Ethernet bridge adapter - remove or disconnect it and disconnect any
power cords. Then reconnect the device.
6. Right-click the My Computer icon in the Windows Start menu and choose Properties.
7. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button (see Figure 1).
8. In the Device Manager window, click the plus-sign next to Network Adapters (see Figure 2).
If
you see a yellow exclamation mark next to the name of the adapter,
something is wrong. Right-click it and choose Uninstall, restart
Windows, and then re-install the driver software as described in the
manufacturer's instructions.

Hi,
Well, bad news. A bad crc usually means the cheapest way out is a new board.
You've got hardware issues.
Sorry.
Good luck
