Is there another port? Thinkpad T22 Notebook

There are effectively 2 ports on the USB controller chip, Though that particular model only is connected to one port.
If you need additional ports, you can get a small 4 port USB hub. Or get a PC Card with extra ports. Hub is less expensive.

Forgot startup password

For the Windows password you will need to reformat your hard drive. If that would not be done or if there is another way of removing the password without removing and reinstalling the operating system or of using your laptop by working around, windows password does not make sense at all. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Spyware

There may be a cookie or something residing on our computer causing this. From your browser>tools>internet options>select delete. delete files and cookies. Out of that, go to start>run>type prefetch in the window. select all and delete all the files there. empty your recycle bin and reboot and run a complete virus scan. If that doesn't help, go to all programs>accessories>system tools> system restore. select a date previous to when you had this problem. You may lose data at this point but I'm hoping deleting the files and a reboot does the trick

Icons and desktop not displaying

This is most likely a system glitch. Try a system restore first, then a system repair with your operating system disc if the restore doesn't do the trick. You should be able to get into the system tools from the task manager to do the restore.

Ibm thinkpad t22 2647

Four things that could cause this. 1- power supply, check it for the proper output with an ohm meter, 2- bad battery, try starting with the supply only, 3- bad memory chip or slot, remove the memory, and try each chip one at a time in each slot, 4- failed power management system on the motherboard. Unfortunately, a failed power management system or chip is common with these, and the motherboard will have to be replaced in order to fix it.

Sorry, but no function key for this. This will most likely be a hard drive failure. Start by do a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, then reformat the hard drive, using a full NTFS format not the quick, and install a new operating system. If the hard drive will not format, or you have any issues during or after the install, then the hard drive has failed and will need replaced.

Hard Drive

When you boot from your OS CD it will run through Set Up and give you the option to format the harddrive.
Just select NTFS for windows 2000 or XP, or FAT32 for Windows 98/ME.

IBM Think Pad T22 auto -shut down a few minutes

Try running it without the battery. Sometimes an IBM battery can develop a short and cause this. If it still does it without the battery, I'm afraid it's the power management chip on the motherboard, and the motherboard will need to be replaced.

Connecting a T22 Laptop to a Matsui television

you’ll need two outputs on your laptop that are typically found on most: the first is a small round yellow socket usually found on the back of your laptop, which is the S-video socket. The other socket you need is either a line out (unlikely) or headphones socket (more likely). You also need a TV with the correct inputs, which will ultimately decide which cables you need. The solution you decide on will be determined by your budget, and the prices and codes below are taken from here, so shop around and you may get a better bargain locally or online.

First, you need two separate cables for video and audio: S-video to S-video (£3.60, 35551), and Stereo 3.5mm plug to 2x RCA plugs (£2.80, 35491). Both cables are two metres long and longer cables are also available from the same site. Your TV will require either equivalent S-video and RCA audio inputs or a SCART socket - if it only has the latter, you’ll also need a SCART adapter (£3.25, 35570).

Once done, plug them all in and switch your TV on, switching to the A/V channel. If nothing appears, open the Display Properties Control Panel, switch to the Settings tab and click Advanced. Look for a Display tab or something similar where you’re able to switch on the S-video port to enable the laptop’s display to route through the TV. Finally, when watching DVD movies (you’ll need a DVD player to do so), look for the option to run them full screen, so you get the best possible picture from your TV.

Battery/Power Issue

Cant help with the "cheap bastard" part, that is for your own edifcation. Anyway, have you adjusted your laptop power/battery settings. If you have tried changing your settings to "Max Battery", and it is still doing this it is probably a hardware issue between the MB and the battery interface. Thus the second part of your message might be comming true. Sorry.

ThinkPad T22 will not boot to windows

I've seen several T20 series with the same problem. A CRC error pertains to a chipset on the motherboard, and the only way I've found to fix a CRC error is to replace the motherboard.
