This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.
If there are other touch switches that are not responding, then the fan failure might not be your problem. If might just be the electronic control board itself. Before you speak of 'fan failure' check the board to see it it is responsive. The clock will always work even with fan failure.Check all the wires and harnesses to the control board...unplug and replug them back in. What is a 'fan element?'
Looking at http://www.smeg-service.co.uk/support/index.php I have come to the conclusion that the best wat to have this problem resolved is to post it to the help forum or hire an engineer. Smeg has locked down any drawings. Take some pics and draw the wires and you might get someone to figure it out for you. Always remember that the company certified technicians can fix it the right way the first time ;) Good luck.
the manual is not going to help you ,it would only make you feel your not selecting things properly. So,here it is,REPLACE THE CONTROL BOARD some times called the CLOCK or CONTROL ELECTRIC.
