SD Memory Cards to record in MPEG2

To achieve MPEG2 video performance, large amounts of data must be written to the SD Memory Card in real time. The read and write speed of the SD Memory Card may differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, so we recommend using Panasonic SD Memory Cards with the high-speed transmission rate of 10MB per second (SD Memory Cards that are 256MB* or higher have a transmission rate of 10MB per second). FINE Mode recording (High image quality 704 x 480 pixels) recording requires an SD Memory Card that is 256MB* or higher. NORM Mode recording (Normal image quality 352 x 480 pixels) recording requires an SD Memory Card that is 32MB* or higher. *Usable capacity will be less. The use of SD Memory Cards other than the ones mentioned above may result in the following error message: [This card cannot record in MPEG2 mode.]

Difference between MPEG2 and MPEG4

MPEG2 video is DVD-quality video comparable to digital camcorders. The picture data is transferred at a rate of about 30 frames per second, for a beautiful, smooth motion image. It will show up on your SD Memory Card as ".MOD" or ".MOI". MPEG4 video is suitable for use in a compatible PC, viewing on a TV, posting on Web pages or attaching to e-mail. It is inferior to MPEG2 in smoothness because the number of the frames transferred in MPEG4 is less than that in MPEG2. However, MPEG4 has a higher transfer rate, and a much smaller file size, than MPEG2. It will show up on your SD Memory Card as ".ASF", which stands for Advance Systems Format files.

I have a panasonic Lumix camera and it keeps

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.
You can see the snap attached below;
n00h_0.gif

If the lock switch is not on lock;
  • Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times.
  • Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds.
  • Slide the switch up to unlock the card.
  • Try to transfer files into the device.

If none of the above works, then you card in either damaged (Format it) or is Password protected.

If you think I was of help, your token of appreciation in the form of rating and a testimonial will be esteemed.
Concerned, Nooh

My panasonic vdr150 pc mode not working

It sounds like you are having trouble using your Panasonic VDR-D150 camera in PC mode. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Make sure that the camera is properly connected to your computer via the USB cable.
Check that the camera is turned on and in PC mode.
Check that your computer recognizes the camera as a device. You can do this by going to the "Device Manager" in the Control Panel and seeing if the camera is listed under "Imaging devices."
If the camera is not listed in the Device Manager, try unplugging and re-plugging the USB cable and restarting your computer.
If the camera is still not recognized by your computer, try using a different USB cable or a different USB port on your computer.
If none of these steps help, it is possible that there is a problem with the camera itself. In this case, you may need to contact Panasonic for further assistance.

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC L580 and it states that the memory is full. As i dont have a manual how do i delete what is held in the memory please cheers

Are you sure of the model number? I can't find anything about a Lumix DMC-L580. There is a Lumix DMC-LS80. Make sure that you save any pictures before deleting them. Also make sure to have fresh batteries or the camera connected to AC power. If the camera runs out of power, the process will not complete. To delete pictures from the internal memory, slide the recording/playback switch down. (The switch to the upper left of the arrow keys on the back.) This puts the camera in Play Back Mode. Use the Up/Down arrows (if needed) to select normal playback mode and press Menu/Set (in the center of the arrow keys). The delete button is the one on the right side below the arrow keys. Use the left/right buttons to select a single picture. Press delete. Press the left arrow to highlight Yes. Then press Menu/Set to confirm deleting the image. To delete multiple pictures, use the down arrow to get to Multi Delete or All Delete (instead of the left arrow). Press Menu/Set. For All Delete, you may see an option to choose All Delete or All Delete except (star). The star indicates Favorites. If needed, pick one, press Menu/Set. Use the left arrow to select Yes and press Menu/Set again. For Multi delete, use the left and right arrows to navigate through the stored pictures. Press the down arrow to select an image to delete. When you have marked all of the pictures that you want to delete, press Delete again. Press the up arrow to select Yes and press Menu/Set to initiate deleting these pictures. (Note: if a picture is protected, pressing the down arrow will result in On icon blinking red.) The manual for DMC-LS80 is available from Panasonic support here: https://www.panasonic.com/au/support/manual-download/imaging/lumix-cameras/dmc-ls80.html . The current link to the manual is https://www.panasonic.com/content/dam/Panasonic/support_manual/Digital_Still_Camera/English_02-vqt3-vqt9_other/DMC-LS80%20Operating%20Instructions.pdf . See page 20 for the section on selecting the mode. See page 35 for deleting pictures. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells (if you have a memory card in the camera, you will need to do the delete steps in two steps. Delete all (or multi) pictures from the internal memory and the memory card separately.)

For some reason, my video is a .mov file and when

First of all, you can't rotate a video without some expensive software installed on your computer and even then, the results will be poor at best. Download Quicktime from Apple to play your video...it's a free download.
