20 Most Recent Ultra (ULT31502) UPS System Questions & Answers

Replace both batteries, not just one. You can even find slightly larger capacity batteries on e-Bay that are the same physical dimensions, pay close attention to getting ones that are the same physical size. I was not aware that you could use the PC ultra UPS units without going through a computer because there is no way to install the program CD that comes with it. Do not be surprised if you find the one with the lower voltage is split open, the good news is that gel cell batteries generally do not leak anything out that would damage the UPS. Don't worry, just replace the batteries with good Gel Cell Type and you will be OK. The cost of the new batteries is not exactly cheap, but they can be higher capacity yet still the same physical size from some of the suppliers.

Batteries need to be replaced. Some last 5 years while others may only last 2-3 years. Quality is the key to a long lasting battery. Plus when you search for replacements, as long as you stick with what the original physical height, length and width are, you can not go wrong. I found a slightly higher capacity for my 7ah batteries of about 8 or 9ah as I recall and reasonable from an e-Bay store seller.

Battery replacement is simple. Getting the right battery is going to be the challenge. Original batteries, as there are two of them in my Ultra 1000va UPS. Replacement batteries need to be searched for. You must accurately measure the physical size of them for Height, Length and Width. There is not a lot of extra room, so look for ones that are higher capacity amp/hour wise but still the same physical size. Pay attention to the position of the battery terminals when looking at the specifications. Also you will need to know which type the spade terminals are and measuring their width will assist you in getting the correct type. I searched a lot of sites before finding what I needed and then shopped e-Bay for a good deal on two of them that was slightly larger capacity yet still the same physical size, terminal size the same between two available types, and they worked great. Original batteries were both split open, but the gel cell type saved me any damage as nothing leaked out. Easy to remove as there is just a mount plate that needed to be removed by removing a screw or two as I recall. Physical size is the key to an easy installation in the limited space in which they lay on their side. Pay attention to the location of the positive and negative on each of the two batteries as they were connected in series! Draw a diagram and label each of the terminals on each battery before disconnecting them. Be patient on the search and the time it takes to check the dimension of the battery for each battery you click onto and you will be OK with getting a suitable replacement!

Place your two new type CB1270 batteries on their sides, one on top of the other in front of you with the battery connectors closest to you and with the battery connectors to your left. Connect the short (2 inch) jumper cable between the two center battery posts (1 red/1 black). Slide the battery stack into the chassis with the battery posts to your left as you face the front of the UPS and be careful that the battery posts do not touch the metal chassis. When the batteries have been slid completely into the chassis, connect the heavy red wire from the circuit board to the red battery connector at the bottom of the battery stack and the heavy black wire from the circuit board to the top black battery connector. If you have doubts about your wiring, use a DC voltmeter set to the 50v range and touch the red probe to the red battery post at the bottom of the battery stack while touching the black probe to the black battery post at the top of the stack. The reading on your meter should be somewhere between +24 and +26v depending on the charge level of your batteries.

From the User Manual:

When the UPS is in "Backup" mode, press the power switch for less than 1 second to silence the audible alarm.
(This function is disabled when the UPS is under condition of "LOW BATTERY" or "OVERLOAD".

Hope this helps.

Do you have things connected to the UPS? You need to start it with nothing connected to it and allow it time to charge . If it is not starting with nothing attatched, then the battery has stayed dead for too long. You will need to replace the battery.

I typically advise that drivers be downloaded from the manufacturer's website. The help desk may be able to advise you as to a download link. help centre on 011 541 3300 or email [email protected]

This is a company based in South Africa.

Although other websites may offer drivers, I cannot assure you such would work nor assure you that such downloads would be safe. I would certainly make a system restore point prior to downloading or installing any such drivers in any case.

Please visit the website below for calibration or support.https://www.breathalyzers.com/index.php/alcohawk/alcohawk-calibration Looks like you have to send your unit away to have it calibrated. I would send them an e-mail enquiring about cost details before posting the unit to them. And double checking the postal address where the unit needs to be sent.

Sounds like power board. Do you get a blinking like at power up? If so, blinking code will indicate problem. Contact store or mfr. Could still be under warranty.
