Looking for a lense support for a quantaray 75-200 mm lense

what do you mean, lens support? - a 75-200 is not usually long enough to warrant this, if you mean a support bracket to mount the lens to a tripod, instead of a camera mounting point? btw - sigma made all or most of the lenses for quantaray, so you might try looking this one up that way as well.

How can I find out the settings available on a Quantaray 70-300 mm zoom lens?

Quantaray has made several different 70-300mm lenses so I'm not sure exactly which one you have. However, if the lens doesn't have a AF/M switch it's no big deal. Assuming it's an autofocus lens, it's always on. If you want to switch to manual focus, flip the switch on the camera body. If it's an older manual-focus Quantaray lens then the question is moot.

Will a quantaray AF LD 55-200mm lense work with a 2X teleconverter?

Well, this teleconverter would act as a magnifier to your lens. If you get a 2x teleconverter, it will double your zoom. so you'd then have a 110mm-400mm lens. The teleconverter is attached to your camera first, then the lens on to the converter. Make sure if you get a teleconverter that it's an autoteleconverter. Which means that it will allow you to still use autofocus. I would also make sure you get a name brand that has good glass because some converters will tint your images to a yellow ish haze that would require a whitebalance adjustment. How to mount Quantaray 70-300mm F/4.0-5.6 Zoom Lens in Sony Alpha DSLR?

This 3rd party lens (like all of them) makes lenses specifically to fit Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Minolta, etc. camera body mounts. Each has a style mount that is unique. You can not simply mount a lens made for use on a Nikon body on a Sony body. In order to use this lens, it MUST be the model designed for use on a Sony camera. Functionally, the lens will be nearly identical on any camera it is designed to fit, only the mount (the portion that actually mates to the camera body) differs from one lens to the other. If you bought this lens without specifying it needs to be used with a Sony camera body (and it is for a different camera) it will NOT mount. Determine if the lens is indeed designed for a Sony camera body. You may find additional letters & numbers on the lens that can help you determine which camera body brand it fits by plugging the number into Google for a search. Additionally, the Quantaray brand is / was a Ritz Camera "house" brand. You could probably bring it to one of their stores and learn all you need to know about the lens there. Good luck!

Do I have to charge 4 batteries at once, or can I just charge 3

If your charger has four separate AA battery charging stations then it can happily (and safely) cope with 1,2,3, or 4 batteries as you wish.

That lens has a coupling on the lens mount which you'll see rotating when you alter the focus ring and look at the back of the lens. it does not have an in-built focus motor and so will only autofocus with Nikon bodies which incorporate a mechanical AF coupling on the lens mounting flage.

Quantaray makes lenses with a variety of mounts. A lens with a Nikon mount, for example, will not fit onto a Sony A55. If the lens has the Sony mount then it will work fine with the A55.

As far as I can tell, this lens does not have the focusing motor and thus will not autofocus on the D40.

The macro functions should work fine, though of course you'll have to focus manually.

I have a quantaray 70-300mm

The D40 body can only autofocus if the lens is equipped with it's own in-built autofocus motor. If you have an AF lens which relies on the camera body having the AF drive motor then you have to use MF only. To cut cost and weight, the D40 relies on using lenses with their own AF motors.

Quantaray is a Ritz badge-engineered product, usually based on a Sigma/Tamron design but not always identical to those brands internally. As Ritz don't have a UK/European presence they're unfamiliar to me, but if it's the same as the one shown on this website, then it definitely lacks a drive motor, the second photo down when enlarged clearly shows the mechanically operated AF coupling at the six o'clock position. Again, to cut cost, the lens shown does not have a built in AF drive motor.

If so, your only fix is to either upgrade your body or lens to versions which aren't cut price models, or to simply focus the good old fashioned way, knowing that what you've focused on is what you want and not what the camera thinks you want... ;-)
