I can't find a decent manual for your computer but there will be 2 pins on the motherboard that will say BIOS Clear. Short these 2 pins and turn the computer on. This is the only way to bypass the BIOS password. This operation will clear the BIOS and reset to factory defaults. After the BIOS is cleared, turn the computer off and take off the short.

Completely remove whatever sound drivers you do have installed, restart, download this: http://ftp.dell.com/audio/R302718.exe

Once downloaded install the sound driver I have provided the link for. If it still doesn't work, please post back here with your DELL service tag. This can usually be found on one of the labels on the underside of the laptop. I may be able to help further if you can provide that information.

Fix Driver Solution In Windows-Start-Control-Panel-Device Manager then search through the list for the element of distress. If it's Audio, it is in the Sound-Video-Game Controllers whereby left clicking on that section will open up a window indicating your electronic devices. A video Camera-Sound Source may show up and if you Right Click on that line you get a message Update Software? You will get another option the Search On-Line Note-you must have internet access for this feature- and say yes, and allow a search to ensue. If you have the Best Driver installed a message stating so will appear- if not you will get an updated driver and it will be installed for you automatically. The other method is to go to the Manufactures Web Site and Support area. Input the necessary data re Model, etc. and look for Drivers. Update ALL new drivers at the same time and install them accordingly.

Try installing on top of its self. It may create another directory and rename the original Window (old). This however will cause you to lose your settings like installed apps and documents. They will be in the OLD folder, but not readily accessible on the new install.

Go to Control Panel and check you account / login under Users. If you are not a Administrator, you will have to log in with an admin account and make your regular account an admin.

Just in case you are a admin already, some programs require you to right click and Run As...

You can also lower the User Access Control. Again in Control Panel under Action Center.

What color(s) is (are) the blinking light? Is the blink a simple on/off or is there a pattern to the blinks (long/short)? Do any other lights come on and blink? (These could be on the keyboard or the battery health indicator LED.)

If the light that is blinking amber or orange indicates that the system has failed the Power On Self-Test (POST). If the blinking light is white, the system is in sleep mode. Try disconnecting the power adapter. Take out the battery and remove all external peripherals. Press and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds to discharge the system's capacitors. Try to restart the machine with only the battery and AC adapter. Did the behavior change?

You can remove memory and the hard drive to check if those are causing a POST failure. Reinstall one memory stick at a time if you have a pair or more. If you can get to the Dell splash screen, try pressing F12 to launch the diagnostics. (You may have to press the key repeatedly starting from a cold boot.)

If the blinking light is alternating orange and white, then you could have a problem with the motherboard, battery or AC charging system. Since you believe that the battery and adapter are OK, then the problem would likely be the motherboard has been damaged. The damage could be at the connection for the charger or somewhere else.

I hope this helps.

the answer would be the same as.
I dropped my PC to the concrete, , how many pieces did not break.
same answer (only GOD knows that).....
the answer can be :
1: yes, if lucky, if the motor spins and can hear it , does it?
2: no if motor silent. Impossible unless pay $1000's bucks recovery services (google that. "clean room HDD recovery services")
3: yes and no, some files can be recovered,
ever seen a record player turn table,?
Imagine deep scratches, killing one song or 3, or?>
but the other tracks still play on the phonoGraph.
same deal here. but tracks are called cylinders here.
but if the heads are dead, NO,
first:
what you do is listen the drive , if the motor inside, is dead, it' s a dead HDD.(RIP)
if not, then move the HDD to other PC as second drive.
and copy your files, that way.
if possible it will work. (luck happens, fate, entropy ,etc)
