Nintendo DS vs. ActionTec GT704WG

Your DS may need another connection that is only blocked with a red lock. (Meaning WEP code locked.) If so, phone a computer tech support to help you set a connection with Wifi (wireless connection) and ask him/ her to set it to WEP code and "blocked". Then ask them to temporarily leave while you set your WEP password. A grey lock means that your DS is not compatible to your access point.

I keep getting disconnected from my companty's vpn

- Check the Internet if working properly?
- Access the configuration page of your router and open the firewall settings, uncheck the list below:

Enable PPTP Passthough
Enable L2TP Passthough
Enable IPSec Passthough

- Try to gather some VPN ports to open using the router.

Note: You should have your permission from the connection of VPN to use it.

Actiontec GT701-WG doesn't recognize a DVR on the LAN

I think the screen you may be looking at is the Application layer forwarding screen, the drop down box being populated by DHCP clients, that's why it isn't seeing the DVR. The DMZ Hosting screen doesn't have a drop down box, it only requires an IP address to be entered.

Hope this helps!

Dns of globe broadband

Hi,

Locally (in your network) to gather these information, you can enter http ://192.168.0.1/ to get the Actiontec’s web interface and gather the DNS info.

Alternately, for Globelines (Philippines) DNS Servers, you can try:
  • 202.52.163.6
  • 202.52.163.7
  • 202.52.162.39 (ns1.globeidc.com.ph)
  • 202.52.162.40 (ns1.globeidc.com.ph)
  • 202.52.167.70
  • 202.52.167.71
Depending on the time of the day, below DNS varies in performance/speed:
  • 203.127.225.10 (g-net.globe.com.ph)
  • 203.127.225.11 (g-net1.globe.com.ph)
In some instances, the following also work:
  • 202.95.226.66
  • 202.95.226.77
The below DNS could also be used but would seem to be reserved for somebody way up the company:
  • 203.177.3.100 (theboss.globenet.com.ph)
Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

I can't open a port to the internet from my Router

Yeah, it's pretty simple actually, if you have verizon. Connect to your modem using this IP: http://192.168.1.1
Then use the username "admin" and password "password1". It may look like it's repeating each letter you're typing so that the password looks much long, but that's just the router being weird.
Finally, go to "Firewall settings" then click yes, click port forwarding on the left, then "add".
Select your computer from the drop down. Then select TCP as the protocol and "any" for source ports then whatever port you want forwarded for destination ports (you can do a range of ports if you want).
Lastly, hit "Apply" and after a quick refresh, your port should be forwarded.
DONE!

Actiontec GT701-WG won't operate wirelessly

In looking on the internet the unit is a DSL gateway. Trying to use it on cable internet is not a real good way to set up your network because I believe the router is waiting for a DSL sync before the services turn on. I would spend the money and pick up a Linksys or Netgear G router, there around $50.

ActionTec not allowing RDP

There seems to be issues with RDP and VPN Routing with Actiontec Modems in that I can't get mine to work either unless I turn on DMZ hosting, and send all traffic to my Server.

Solution: Turn on DMZ Hosting and set the address to your desktop, warning, however, all traffic sent at your modem WILL be received by your computer, so make sure you have a good firewall installed.
