Surha AKG uhf ht 40 handheld mic
You need a pop filter while recording. There are different reasons why a "pop" would get recorded in the signal. Either because of the harsh P's and T's while singing or rapping like "Business", "Pain", "Property", etc. or it could be jitter problem due to an unstable clock. Mostly you would recognize these ones cause they don't sound like the pops coming out o a persons mouth. They're more like clicks. Your problem, from what I understand is due to the former reason. That's why you will need a pop filter.

C1000s hum/buzz on phantom power
possibly the microphone needs more power than your sound card can supply although I cannot imagine as the duet is a good piece of equipment.
Is the duet USB bus powered?
Have you tried another cable? Possibly one wire is defective which means that phantom power will superpose the audio signal. In this case you might hear a hum. By the way this results in 6dB of signal loss. This is why XLR plugs have 3 wires. If connected with a 1/4" jack it has to be a stereo plug (tip, ring, sleeve)
